Sandy Creek boys win AAA state track title, Starr's Mill second in AAAA, Mercy third in ASun, 05/13/2007 - 7:03am

The Sandy Creek boys track team placed first in the Class AAA state track meet with 69 points. Oconee County placed second with 36 points. Individual state champions for the Patriots were Christian Taylor in the triple jump (49'11.250"), the long jump (23'4.750") and the 200 meter dash (22.071) and the 1,600 meter and 400 meter relay teams. Michael Dehaven took second in the 200 meter dash, a step behind Taylor with a time of 22.074. In the Class AAAA meet, Starr's Mill scored 32 points and tied Riverdale and Creekside for second place. Southwest DeKalb won with 36 points. Austin Enriquez was an individual state champion in the 1,600 meter run (4:22.260) and the 3,200 meter run (9:35.140). Our Lady of Mercy placed third in the Class A state meet. Matt Lethbridge was a state champion in the 3,200 meter run (10:08.120), while his brother, Jake, was a state champ in the 1,600 meter run (4:23.320) and the 800 meter run (1:59.987). login to post comments |
