Rumor

I've heard a rumor a couple of times about Catfish Hollow coming to Fayetteville.

Any truth to that?

PLEASE GOD, PLEASE GOD, PLEASE GOD, let this one be true. I'll be good I promise.

Mr. and Mrs. Wise are the owners of Catfish Hollow. They used to run Golden's Cafeteria (which used to be in Fayetteville, where Village Cafe is, Git!). Golden's is now located in downtown Newnan, and Mr. and Mrs. Wise have since given Golden's to their son, while they continue to operate Catfish Hollow. I, too, saw the sign that Golden's is coming to Fayetteville where Loco's used to be. I haven't heard yet if that is the same "Golden's", and if Robert Wise will be operating that location, as well. But as wonderful as the food is at both Catfish Hollow, and Golden's, I sure hope so.
I think what you MAY have heard, Shorty, is perhaps a variation on the Wise family opening a new location in the 'Ville... As Catfish Hollow AND Golden's are both run by them, albeit different generations. Check out the sign in front of the old Loco's location. And I'll keep you guys posted as to whether or not it is, indeed, the SAME Golden's Cafeteria. Hope that helps!

I can't remember the name of the little place that was on the corner of Georgia Ave. and Hwy 85 (Where Larry's Giant Sub is now). I was thinking that was Golden's for some reason. What was it?

I guess the old memory isn't what it once was.

That little place was called Wheeler's. Their food was great. Best slaw and fried chicken. My husband and I ate there almost every week.

Yes, that's right, I now remember Wheelers! They had great chicken biscuits too! It wasn't much to look at from the road but the food was great. Thanks Tug!

I hope your right ShortField.

Here's another one for you. Remember Goldens where the Village Cafe is? I think they moved to Newnan. Well.. I saw a sign at the old Malones next to Kroger in Towne Center and it said Goldens coming. Please tell me that one is true too. Smiling

If these rumors are true I'll promise to never, ever, ever go to a McDonalds again for the rest of my life. Unless I'm in China or somewhere like that where I'm really desperate for some semi-edible grub.

I guess McD's qualifies as edible if you are desperate.

Personally the catfish at Catfish Hollow is about the best around since the Rio Vista closed. I do wish I had the chicken recipe from the Rio Vista, that Chicken and Catfish were a great combo.
