Restaurant Update

The Original Pancake House has a new menu! No new items to choose from, just another increase in prices. Was there this past week and the pancakes have also shrunk in size to being only about five inches in diameter. I honestly can't afford to dine there anymore with the new prices.

The newly-remodeled IHOP in Fayetteville is nice. Fair portions, fair prices.

Also was told by my son that the $3 Cafe has changed hands with new management & ownership. My son was one of the original wait staff there and actually had a good reputation for service with people asking for him by name when they came back which wasn't often given the restaurants other troubles, especially the kitchen. The restaurant was being run as an employment opportunity for a family member and not as a professional business. Employees who spoke up to point out the problems that were not being addressed by the family/management were routinely run off leaving only the worst of the worst to continue running the place. Glad to see that poor customer service & even worse management brought the former owners exactly what they deserved.

The family & I have eaten there exactly once. The food & service were decent, portion size was adequate but not generous and the cost ... very expensive for breakfast. It's a shame because I like to frequent Mom & Pop businesses of all kinds, but the price has to be in the ball park of what the bigger retail chains charge.

My wife and I made only one visit and got "sticker shock" after seeing the menu.... and that was a couple of years ago.

The food was fair, service okay but they sure don't offer anything to justify those high prices.

Went to the new Big Daddys in Fayetteville at the location where Becky Sue's use to be ... really bad! All the veggies tastes like somebody dropped a sugar bowl in the pot while cooking them.

Nowhere near as good as what Becky Sue use to serve.

So ya'll don't like the Original Pancake Hse. How about J. Christopher's. I've only eaten there a time or 2. It was OK but I thought pricey...I did have eggs bennedict though.
What's the contruction at the old Fuddrucker's? H@@ters coming w/ the East Village annex?

I've only been thru the new Popeye's a couple of times and they need some HELP.

The new ChopStix is attractive. Fuji was good.

I am glad the debate about Customer Service actually got more response than the debacle that has become IRAQ.

I have posted before how I HATE The Original Pancake House. You guys know that... But, J. Christopher's is AWESOME! I usually get the Prime Rib when I go there. It's fabulous! The old Fuddrucker's is slated to become another Starbucks. Just what we need, right? My husband and I noticed that when we went to Italian Oven yesterday for lunch with my mother. My response was "Well, Fayetteville has two. I guess they thought Peachtree City needed two, also." As a side-note, I love Italian Oven. I always get the same dish there: Chicken and Fresh Vegetables over Penne. Their fried zucchini is fabulous, also!

They've priced themselves out of our business, but they still have a ton of business from Kiwanas to Rotary that makes up for their lack of individual volume.

Those meals are done by the lowest bidder. They don't make much, if anything, on a Rotary lunch, for instance. Food isn't usually "good" either for a club.
It takes more than that to make a go of it, I'm afraid.
I've eaten my share of rubber chicken heated by a lamp for two hours, in order to have 30-50 lunches ready at one time.
Breakfast is a little better, but who will pay 12-15 dollars for a breakfast? It has to go for 6-7 dollars---no money there, except for the $2 for a ten cent cost cup of coffee.
If a restaurant doesn't have a nice bar (where the real money is) it is extremely hard to make a profit, even with a huge volume.
Club business is done, hoping they will bring their family back sometime. They never do!

I stopped going there also because of the cost. If they have raised them again, they are doomed.
Also, the Omellettes aren't good enough to justify the cost.
A place like the Mellow Mushroom can get by at least for awhile with $20 pizzas, because the Pizzas are different and taste good, but Original doesn't have anything going for them.
I think they have a volume problem due to cost!
