Guns, like cars, require reasonable, safe limits

Our son was allowed to play in the homes of family and friends who owned guns. However, only in those who showed respect for the danger of the damage a gun (like a car) can do to others by having and using not just gun safes and locks, but, most important, showing responsible common sense. Setting reasonable limits is the obligation of all parents.

We require testing, the responsibility of insurance to protect others, and legally enforced limits on driving a car.

Responsible gun owners (especially parents) should be leading the charge for effective limits that allow responsible gun ownership while protecting our children and other loved ones.

Why is that too much to ask of gun owners?

Do you have any idea how many kids are killed/injured each year on bikes?

This rambling by Kathie makes no sense at all.

Do you let your kid play at houses that have swimming pools? He’s 100 times more likely to drown there than to be killed by a gun.

What limits are you talking about anyway? Should I not let my child’s friends play with my loaded guns anymore?

If you are going to write this nonsense every week, at least try to make some type of point or suggestion.

Allow me to interpret for you:

Look how good and smart I am. Look and see how you should parent. See me? I am in the local paper. I am as good a mom as Jennifer McKinley even though my husband doesn’t write an essay to the newspaper and say so Christi will be jealous. I know how you should raise your children. See me?

There Maximus, does that help?

"Responsible gun owners (especially parents) should be leading the charge for effective limits that allow responsible gun ownership while protecting our children and other loved ones."

That statement is about as clear as mud.

What do you want?

Perfectly clear to me!
It means: If everyone, including children, were allowed to walk around with a loaded pistol in their hand, and it had effective limits, while protecting the children (not you or me, just the children), then after a while we could actually load the gun with more than one bullet, unless the carrier was named Barney Fiffe!
Now responsible gun ownership means: the writer, of course; her friends and neighbors, people making over $75.000 per year; those who haven't killed anyone yet making over $75.000 per year---illegals don't count; and keep their gun clean and shiny.

And THIS one is even more nonsense.

It seems that you spend so much time trying to be witty that you end up with a pile of words that only you understand. Don't you have better things to do in retirement?
