There is a computer and other electronics recycling trailer at the Peachtree City recycling center on Rockaway Rd. The trailer belongs to Creative Recycling Inc. of Palmeto, they recycle unusable or old electronics. This is a much better solution than sending the computer to the dump. There are some components that are harmful to the environment and need to be kept out of landfills.

In addition, as a community service, Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church has cooperated with Creative Recycling to offer a computer drop off station the past 2 years. They will offer another recycling day in September.

Forebill....If the clown that guards the gate at the PTC Recycling Center would let me in the gate I would gladly bring them my used computers, printers and monitors. Usually 10 - 20 of them a year. But he checks my license and sees that I'm a lowly rural Fayette Countian and he forbids me from the recycle bins. So to the dumpster they goooooo......

And correct. As for the cell phones- Battered Women's Shelters give them to women. 911 can still be dialed from phones after the service has been terminated.

A Boy Scout from Peachtree City troop 181 will be collecting used cell phones and inkjet cartridges at the three Peachtree City Kroger’s on Sunday, May 20 from 12-4 p.m. for his Eagle project. The cell phones and inkjets will be sent to a recyling firm who will in turn, send the Scout a check. The monies earned will be used to purchase musical instruments for Alabama’s Enterprise High School marching band to replace the ones that were destroyed during the March 1 tornado. There will also be a collection bin at the main office of McIntosh High School from Monday, May 14-Friday, May 18.

Many churches, schools, and I think the Battered Women's Shelter take the cell phones. The same with Ink Cartridges.

Computers??? Don't try to donate them. To a charity they are as useful as boat anchors are in the desert. Today we robbed the RAM and pulled the hard drives out of 2 computers and chunked them into the dumpster.

Wish there was a better way but I'm not paying anyone to recycle anything.

Will any place around here take them? For some reason or another, I have 2 or so sitting around my garage in the way.

Most auto parts stores will allow you to leave the batteries with them. In many cases they get rebated for the core. A trick that always works is to leave the batteries outside their shop doors after hours. It's hard for them to tell you no and then you know they'll get disposed of properly. Eye-wink

I wish I could figure out how to git rid of old gasoline without having to dump it in my neighbors back yard. You know what I mean? Shocked Now about gittin rid of those cars on blocks beside your......

I know quite a few of the elementary and middle schools in Fayette County are collection points for old cell phones and empty ink cartridges, although I'm not sure about old computers. A phone call to the front office of a school can help answer your questions.
