The Starr’s Mill varsity baseball team captured a slice of the region title, along with Northgate and Woodward Academy, but more importantly they captured the second seed and will start the AAAA state playoffs this Friday at home.

The Panthers (15-9, 13-3 region) opened the season with six straight losses. They closed out the regular season with a 7-5 win over Whitewater and have won 10 of their last 11 games. Their opponent in the first round of the playoffs is the Brunswick Pirates (15-10, 7-3). The Pirates have gone 3-3 over their last six games and completed the regular season with a 5-3 win over Evans last Friday.
