By 9 p.m. tonight, the AAAA girls final will be set.

Be sure to visit www.thecitizen.com to see who is playing who and when. If we’re lucky, it will be an all Fayette final - with Starr’s Mill taking on the winner of the Whitewater and McIntosh game. Starr’s Mill plays at Marist tonight, while the Lady Chiefs and Lady Wildcats met last night.

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs, ranked third in AAAA, have a record of 14-7 and have won six games in a row. They beat the seventh ranked St. Pius team last Friday 3-2 after winning 3-0 in penalty kicks.

Whitewater (13-6-1) is ranked fourth in AAAA and has won four games in a row. On Friday, the Lady Wildcats beat Lakeside-DeKalb 4-2.

Starr’s Mill (14-6-1), ranked sixth in Class AAAA, beat Chapel Hill 2-0 last Friday for their fifth win in a row. It was their fourth shutout in five games. They took on Marist, the top ranked team in AAAA, and the team that knocked off Woodward Academy 5-1 last Friday.

On the boys’ side, McIntosh, ranked number one in AAAA and number two in the nation, plays at Greenbrier, Evans, the number two team in AAAA and the number seven team in the nation, on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The Chiefs have only allowed eight goals all season long and a quarter of them came in their second round game against Baldwin. McIntosh (19-0-2) defeated the fourth ranked St. Pius team in penalty kicks on Saturday.

Whitewater, the seventh ranked team in AAAA, beat Marist, the sixth ranked team, 3-1 on Saturday, avenging last year’s quaterfinal loss.
The Wildcats (15-5-1) will play at fifth ranked Habersham Central (21-0) Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

If it did, it was before my time.

We've come close a couple of times.

Just kidding..

I still say McIntosh could be a football powerhouse. Everytime they git past the 50 (mid-field)...they kick a field-GOLD.
