To all those who drove

past the little old lady's house that had car with flat tire in driveway, and no one offered to help - shame on you. Guess you were in too big of a hurry to get to church! All it took was an offer to help and a can of fix a flat! What has this world come to!?!

Didn't see Grandma at church Sunday. Now I know why she threw something at me for telling her I missed her......

Kind of makes you appreciate the story of the Good Samaritan though he did not have to worry about a lawsuit because he took the injured party to the wrong hotel.

I carry a tire plugging kit, a jack, and an air compressor in my trunk. I learned to fix my own tire when Discount Tire asked me for $40 and an hour to repair a screw in one of my tires. I went to the Advanced Auto Parts next door and purchased the compressor and plug kit for the same price and then repaired the tire in their parking lot in about 30 minutes. I've been doing that ever since.

I won't fix anyone else's tire though. I'll help them change it, I'll put air in it, but no repair. I don't want to be sued because I helped someone.

Let's face it. If the good samaritan were around today, he'd be shot by the injured man who thought the robbers were coming back or sued for using the wrong oil or bandages the victim was alergic to.

If we want people to help others we've got to place people in positions of authority that will reform the court system so that people feel safe rendering aid.

You must revel in the knowledge that you, and only you, are good enough to help other people in this town. Nobody, especially those church going types, are as good a person as you. In fact, when I saw that the old lady’s car was out of service I drove my truck through her yard and did a bunch of donuts while I honked and yelled obscenities and flipped her the bird! I was almost late to church!

Thanks for letting us all know what an awesome person you are. We wouldn't want to just help our neighbors without telling everyone else what scumbags they are for not getting there first.

Yeah, I saw your doughnuts when I spun through her yard and tapped her right rear fender pretty good. I ran rings around her until she finally ran into the house, grabbed her shotgun and started pelting my car with squirrel shot (#5s, I think). The tall heavy dude who was standing just inside the hallway came bursting out with a pick axe in his right hand and a Glock 9mm in the other. He said some broke wench had just left and didn't have anything worth stealing except some tire gum of some kind and we took that. I didn't bother to go out and club her.

We need more Buddhists here and fewer christians.......A few random acts of kindness would go a long way. No wonder riverdale is already here.....birds of a feather..............sorry I asked for good stories.

Get out of my head. Sometimes, I think we were separated at birth.

One of us had to say it.

Let's change this blog a little:
Have you had the opportunity to commit a random act of kindness for someone? Have you been on the receiving end of a random act of kindness?

Anybody? There are opportunities everywhere...some days you have to look harder than others for an opportunity to help.

Let's hear the good stories.

Yes, I suppose I have done several but I don't feel good if I talk about it!
If I see one, maybe.

Maybe they drove past because they didn't see her.

Where was the little old man that lives in the house?

Maybe they figured she had already called for help and didn't want to scare her since she wasn't in the road in any danger.

Maybe God thought it was your turn to help.

Maybe they thought she was a smart-aleck who would just criticize whatever they did.

Maybe they couldn't stop because they had already used their spare tire.

Are you always so cynical and judgmental or just when you miss church?

Maybe God wanted them to pass her so they would feel guilty and the spirit of conviction would lead them to Christ.

Maybe they didn’t have a jack.

Maybe they called for a truck to come fix it and they said “we have already been called and have a guy on the way”.

Maybe they wanted grendle or Grendel to do it (or maybe even Beowulf)!

There is no little old man, and I did help, did you not read the part about "offer and can of fix a flat".

Thank you for trying.
However unless she takes that tire to a repair place and get the nail or screw out of it, it will go flat again.

You are right about that AND they are going to hate her because now the inside of that tire is filled w/ glue. That stuff is truly for.."it was a dark and stormy night..."

Very aware of that, the lady's main problem was, she couldn't even get to help, fix a flat got her to some help. At least I stopped and offered, which was obviously more than most did. Guess that ox in the ditch thing doesn't apply anymore!

I don't have time nor patience to argue, the point is, where are all the do-gooders I read and hear about? The ones skyspy would like to hear about. Just hoping to gently remind folks to help one another.

Unfortunately, the last time I stopped to help someone who was in need (a girl crying on the curb of my apartment complex who asked to use my phone), I got mugged instead. As bad as it is, I don't tend to stop and help people anymore. Too bad that one bad seed ruined it for everyone else, but I just can't get past the feeling of being punched in the face and having things stolen from me!
I'm not saying that the little old lady would have done anything of the sort, but unfortunately these days, those who take advantage of do-gooders have helped cause a shortage of do-gooders.
