The Historic Freight Depot in downtown Fairburn is set to begin the fresh produce season with the opening of the Farmer’s Market next week. The market will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon from May 12 through Oct. 28.

The farmer’s market provides the opportunity for local growers from south Fulton and adjoining counties to sell their produce and local artisans to feature their creations. Weekly events will also include cooking demonstrations and performances by local musicians.

A sampling of the participating vendors are Bear Creek Farms, Dan’s Plants, Hunts Farm, Heaven Sent Landscaping & Plants, Jane Storey Knitting and Woodcrafts, Lin’s Paintings, Mary’s Fiber Arts, Scharko Farms and Titania’s Soaps.

Spring offerings include arugula, asparagus, beets, cabbage, carrots, collards, green onions, kale, lettuce, mustard greens, peas, salade greens, salad mix, spinach, fresh herbs and flowers. Additional products for the spring opening include baked goods, natural bath and body products, preserves and jellies and bedding plants.

The depot is located at 30 W. Broad Street.
