The McIntosh Chiefs defeated Starr's Mill on Thursday night to earn a place in the state semi-finals next Friday.

Sophomore Austin Tilton won at #1 Singles 6-4, 6-1. Junior captain Jonathon Emmet lost 1-6, 5-7 but helped to support teammate sophomore Matt Thompson who proved he could outlast his opponent with a clutch win at #3 singles 3-6, 6-0, 6-4. Senior captain Will Truex and partner junior Davy Witdfeldt at #1 doubles went three sets but lost 4-6 in the third. Freshman Femi Brinson and Stewart Weisheit won easily 6-0, 6-1 at #2 doubles.

The entire Chief team (Kent Dunson, Kyle Koonce, Michael Lacour, Alex Parton, Josh Thompson and Mike Wehde) have worked very hard to achieve their goal of making it to the final rounds of state playoffs.

The #1 ranked Lady Chiefs are hoping to proceed forward with the boys so that both teams will be able to play together for the state championships.

The Lady Chiefs will play Monday versus Lakeside Evans High School in the quarterfinals.

Starr's Mill girls won the AAAA Girls State Tennis Championship today defeating St.Pius in the semi finals and Marist in the finals.

Marist has been the State Champions for 13 years. Great victory Lady Panthers with very little exposure and no press time. Also congratulations to the McIntosh lady chiefs who played a great match against Marist in the semi finals. The McIntosh boys were still playing in the finals not sure of the outcome.
