Fayetteville police are investigating two armed robberies last week where the suspects posed as customers, bringing items for purchase to the counter before pulling their guns.

The first incident occurred the afternoon of April 17 at the Radio Shack at Hudson Plaza. The second happened at the Big Lots store Friday (April 20) just before 8 p.m.

Police were reviewing video footage from the Big Lots heist to see if the suspect can be identified, said Lt. Beverly Trainor.

In the Big Lots incident, a man approached the cash register with items to purchase when he displayed a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the clerk, Trainor said.

The suspect grabbed cash from the register and fled the scene on foot, Trainor said.

The suspect was described as a black male about 5-feet-10-inches with a blue uniform shirt with white trim on the sleeves, blue jeans and blue tennis shoes, Trainor said. It is believed he is between 25 and 30 years old.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to contact Fayetteville police at 770-461-4441.
