Armed suspect posed as customer

Fayetteville police are working to identify a man who posed as a customer just before robbing the Big Lots store at gunpoint Friday evening.

Police were reviewing video footage to see if the suspect can be identified, said Lt. Beverly Trainor.

The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. Friday when a man approached the cash register with items to purchase when he displayed an automatic handgun and pointed it at the clerk, Trainor said.

The suspect grabbed cash from the register and fled the scene on foot.

The suspect was described as a black male about 5’10” with a blue uniform shirt with white trim on the sleeves, blue jeans and blue tennis shoes, Trainor said. It is believed he is between 25 and 30 years old.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Fayetteville police at 770-461-4441.

My parents were in Big Lots when this happened, which makes me feel a little more scared/annoyed about the whole thing. Always plesant to think how your loved ones were amidst an armed robbery!

How much money is one going to walk away with in a discount retail store? Also, with more people using credit/debit cards for purchases, I can only wonder how little the thief made off with. My mother said the cashier was an eldery lady. Poor thing. I'm sure she didn't expect that when she went into work Friday.

Time to wake up, Fayetteville. The Radio Shack was hit a few days prior to this. I think we need police presence in retail center parking lots, because I doubt this is going to get better before it gets worse. We've all gotta crack down on this, or these scuzzbuckets are going to keep striking and bringing down the quality of life that other people have worked hard to maintain.

The incident shows how lazy people are- they would rather rob than go out and find a decent job. This town is rapidly going down the tubes because of a bunch of thug-rapper wannabes. We all have to be vigilant, and exercise our constitutional right to carry concealed weapons.

Once these lazy, good for nothing cowards know that everyone in Fayetteville is packing heat, they will go back to the hood in Clayton county.

Either means "semi-automatic handgun", (most likely) or something like an uzi, (let's pray that's not the case!). Either or, I wouldn't want to be staring down its barrel.
Let's have a round of applause for the city council!

Golly, Gee. Who would have ever thunk it?

The thug-rap culture/mentality strikes again.

We MUST make sure that our judges understand that nothing but the maximum punishment will be tolerated! Let these thugs understand when they enter our county that they will be punished to the full extent of the law and not just a wrist slap as in Clayton and Fulton Counties. We must protect our quality of life!

Wonder if the Cool Ramin (How ever it was spelled) group will protest for this poor innocent young man also?
