Chiefs best Woodward, 14-7Fri, 04/13/2007 - 10:37am
By: Michael Boylan
The McIntosh boys lacrosse team returned to their winning ways following their first out of state road trip last week. The team faced off against a very tough Nease High School team, ranked fourth in Central Florida, and lost a close decision 13-11, then came back in the same day to defeat the 12th ranked Episcopal team by a score of 9-7. This Tuesday, McIntosh continued to roll defeating rival Woodward Academy at Booth Middle School, 14-7. The physical game started slow, but the Chiefs exploded at the end of the first quarter taking a 7-1 lead. Although Woodward rallied in the second half, the McIntosh offense and proficiency on ground ball statistics (34-9) proved to be too much in the end. Scorers for the Chiefs included Zack Ward with five goals, Nicco DeRosa with four goals and DJ Ward, with two goals and three assists. Additional goals were scored by Garrett Lee, Caleb Benson, and Andrew Huffman. The victory takes the Chiefs’ record to 9-2. They face two tough road games this weekend playing at Pope on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and at Northview on Monday at 7 p.m. before returning home against South Forsyth on Saturday, Apr. 21 at 10 a.m. at McIntosh stadium. The team is currently ranked seventh in the state. login to post comments |
