Light Up Senoia
Newly-elected Senoia City Councilman Perry Benson believes this year’s holiday kickoff in Senoia is going to be the best one yet.

“We’ve got 38 parade entries and Santa’s workshop this year,” he said.

The workshop is the site of the old Danny’s Restaurant on Main Street and will feature pictures with Santa for $12. Also, kids will be able to decorate Christmas cookies with Mrs. Claus at the workshop.

Other features of this year’s celebration include a food court featuring Chick-fil-A and other food vendors. The festivities start at 4 p.m. in downtown Senoia, with the parade kicking off at 5:30 p.m. The East Coweta High School Band will march through town and Jim McKnight will provide holiday music.

Workers have been busy this week trimming the trees and Benson said everything is ready for the big day.

“It’s been quite a huge task. We’ve bough all new lights this year and the Downtown development Authority and Christmas Committee have done an excellent job,” he said.

The town also received donations from Southern Mills, Winpak and Bank of Coweta to help defray costs.

Another decorating addition this year is wreaths on all the downtown businesses.

“They really embraced this, and all the businesses will be staying open late Saturday night,” said Benson.

A manufactured, politically correct "holiday celebration", complete with a MARCH on the cart paths (or a parade through the greenspace), or a good ole' fashioned Southern Christmas evening in a quaint small town. What to do on a Saturday night?

What's the fastest way to Rockaway Road?

And I bet there won't be any pre-election posturing. Sounds good to me.
