police bashers

I would like to address all those people who like to bash the PTC police. Do any one of you have any idea what it is like to be a police officer? Do you understand the stress of knowing that each and every day you may have someone fight you, someone shoot at you, someone try to KILL you. That each day you put that gun belt on and say good bye to your wife and kids it may be the LAST TIME they see you alive?? And they do this job knowing the pay is crappy, the hours suck, and their lives are on the line. Instead, people bash the PTC police for doing their job...the job they get paid so little for. The officers of PTC are some of the best officers around. They do their job to the best of their ability. They CHOOSE to stay a PTC officer even knowing that they get no respect from the citizens they strive to protect. They CHOOSE to stay even though they know they have to act as a parent to many of the bad kids, they have to be the disciplinarian to those kids and then face the wrath and bad mouthing of the parents who don't care enough to BE a parent! The PTC officers come in to work each and every day KNOWING that their shift will probably be short staffed and that back up in an urgent sitation may be longer in coming because of the lack of a full shift.
People in this city take the police for granted-until it's themselves that need the help. It amazes me that so many complain about an officer doing their job. An officer is doing their job when you get pulled over for a brake light out. An officer is doing their job when they stop your kid who is speeding in a school zone or out past curfew. They are looking out for you and the other people on the streets! When you get pulled over for a taillight out and receive a warning, consider yourself lucky because that officer could have given you a ticket!
People of this city need to open their eyes and look at what an officer does in their daily duties. Maybe, just maybe, take time out of your busy day and try to get to know some of the officers. Stop and say hi. PTC officers get so many negative comments and yet still come to work EVERY DAY to protect and serve the very people who are negative to them. You should be proud of your officers! And please try to remember that the officers of PTC are human. They can and do make mistakes...becasue they are human.

We need to appreciate and thank the few cops that are still here.

One officer I talked to yesterday said we are short 10 cops and about to lose some more.

Note to all criminals who come to PTC....break into the mayors house first, then the city drunks house,.....then you can pick on the rest of us.....but please start with them first. They deserve it more than the rest of us.

I disagree. There are many, many, many of us who appreciate and respect our law guys. Please remember that BladderQ represents a minority of us.

SALUTE to our PTC Police Officers and all the other agencies that work to keep law and order.

I should've said that they choose to stay even knowing that they get no respect from some of those whom they strive to protect. Thanks for reminding me that there are people who do believe in their local police officers. It's easy to lose sight of that fact in the light of so many negative posts and comments-seems we hear too may negatives and not enough positives. Thanks for correcting me and for supporting your PTC officers-I know it means a great deal to them to have people on their side

Are on your side! Smiling

Even if I did get a ticket in Riverdale 5 years ago for driving in the emergency lane.
