The Union City Police and FBI agents are looking for a man on charges of armed robbery in the March 29 hold-up at the Bank of America office at 6737 Londonderry Way. The man is described as a black male with short hair in his mid-30s, weighing 225 pounds and 5’10”-6’0” in height with a thin beard and mustache, according to FBI Special Agent Gregory Jones. The man was wearing a black suit, blue shirt, dark tie and dark sunglasses and was armed with a large frame, semi-automatic handgun that was silver in color, Jones said. The armed robber entered the bank at approximately 1:30 p.m. and approached the assistant manager, placing a gun to the bank employee’s head, Jones said. The assistant manager and the robber went further into the bank while several individuals in the bank fled, said Jones. Jones said at some point during the robbery attempt, several shots were fired inside the bank by the robber. The robber, however, chose to depart the bank at this point. During his departure, but while outside of the bank, the robber encountered a female bank customer. Jones said it was during this encounter that the robber shot the customer. The customer, an 81 year-old woman, was treated at Grady Hospital and has been subsequently released, said Union City Police Public Information Officer George Louth. Anyone with information regarding this robbery should immediately contact the Atlanta office FBI at tel. (404) 679-9000. login to post comments |
