Democratic Accomplishments since taking majority

ArmyMAJretired's picture

Can anybody tell me what the Democrats have accomplished so far?

I jus googled "Democratic accomplishments in congress" and no current info was returned.

Minimum wage hasn't passed because they refuse to "COMPROMISE". How inflexible and "PARTISAN".

I did find an article "the first 100 hours down the drain" http://www.reason.com/news/show/117702.html

Oh, yeah some Bush bashing hearings about firing US attorneys HE appointed and who serve at his will.

Anything else? Cricket chip, chirp, chirp?

If this is what the Dems call leadership, we are all in trouble. I'm saving for the Tax hikes to come!

The dems have raised the minimum wage so that a 25 hour week (what most are allowed to work to avoid benefits) will fill their gas tank at $2.90 per gallon to get to work, buy them some hamburgers and eggs to eat, buy one set of clothes a year, give the church 10%, and pay a witch doctor to heal them when ill. No prescriptions are possible.
They also have started getting us out of this dumb war. Today (4/5/07) however, it was announced that the troop levels would be increased 22,000 more from the National Guard with additional callups. General McCaffery (retired) said this must continue for at least two years, every few months. Most already there are on the third assignment and the rest will be in one year.
They also have rooted out a few liars, crooks, and dangerous people by having no nonsense hearings!
They knew this new callup was in the works before the last election was held, but hid it hoping to hang on. It didn't work.
We distracted the fiasco in Afghanistan with one in Iraq, and would like to distract both now with a bomb run on Iran, however the Iranians knew when to release the British captives and foiled that possibility for a while. Scores of people were calling for bomb runs from day one of the capture!
A confederacy of dunces!

It took President Wartime Deserter five months in 2001 to pass his ill-advised tax cuts.

Yet ArmyMAJretired, insists that the Democrats inability to get minimum wage legislation passed in 100 hours is indictive of "failure".

Of course, being a man without honor, Herr Major fails to point out that it is his Republican brethren that are sabotaging the legislation by loading up the minimum wage bill with pork for small businesses.

But then, Herr Major enthusiastically supported people who covered up child molestation prior to the last election so we know where he stands on issues: "It's okay if you are a Republican!" (IOKIYAR) I have no doubt whatsoever that Herr Major cheered the politization of the Justice Department.

I admit that it will take more than 100 hours to clean up Bush's legacy of corruption and incompetence. Who knew that the levels of corruption and incompetence would be so pervasive?

you wouldn't want to get any of that on you.

Notice he didn't mention the loading up by the dems of the recent legislation for war funding!

It's amazing that the liberals can say whatever they want about anyone yet let a conservative say something and its libelous.

Apology??? Yeah right!

Just to make sure we're clear on things here.

You don't like my political positions, I don't like yours.

I consider you a man without honor because of your past history of
1. Supporting torture of civilians
2. Excusing the behavior of certain congressmen who covered up child molesting because they were Republicans and
3. Your urging of soldiers to commit war crimes ("we should take no prisoners").

There is nothing honorable about any of the above positions, in my opinion.

While I am used to your petty name-calling and insults, your insinuation that I am a child molestor goes too far. Your comment is nothing more than an invitation to a libel lawsuit.

I demand an apology.

You have the right to your own opinion.

You have the right to disagree with mine.

You do not have the right to call me a child molestor.

I demand an apology.

You must be joking. You of all people have no room to ask anyone for an apology.

You are despised by most of the bloggers on here for your long running and frequent personal attacks.

You have called nearly everyone here that you disagree with (including me, MyWord_Mark, Old School Football, GitReal, Tug13, Army Major, RightOnTheMoney and many others) everything vulgar and derogatory under the sun. You are pathetic. The Citizen is pathetic for editing ArmyMajor- surely you oppose this censorship!

Noooooo – instead you cry like a little girl, ask for censorship, and pretend you are a lawyer ….. how pathetic!

You, my little stench ridden long grain rice, are a hypocrite and the nastiest, weakest, crybaby little jerk on here.

I see (like most squeaky little chicken turds) you love to dish it out but just can't take it.

You are a big part of the reason I no longer call myself a democrat. You are the main reason I will stop blogging on this heavily censored site.

Do you think the democratic party misses you? Honestly? Do you know how many democrats the current president and last congress have created? Have fun in the stripes you currently wear (My_Word). If a blogger can change your world view, you aren't true enough to your convictions to be worthy of a party label. Call yourself a continental drifter. Libertarian until a Libertarian hurts your feelings on a local blog.

In order for the person about whom a statement is made to recover for libel, the false statement must be defamatory, meaning that it actually harms the reputation of the other person, as opposed to being merely insulting or offensive.

How has the annonomous identity "Basmati" been damaged? Have the police started an investigation? Has Child services been notified? Has Basmati been denied a job or suffered any harm?

What are you going to do, hold your breath? You have done more to harm your reputation than one insult could ever do.

That said, I have no proof that you have or have not ever commited a crime.

Pursuant to Georgia statute 51-5-11, consider this a formal demand for a retraction of the poster known as "ArmyMAJretired"'s libelous statement.

In addition, I am asking Cal Beverly as publisher to edit or remove the libelous post in question.

While I understand your angst, you need to consider that the Major has no brains, only thing he knows is how to pull a trigger. As the old saying says: "Never argue with a moron, he will take you to his level and then will defeat you by experience"

Easy there Bas.... didn't you accuse me of the same libelous statement a couple of weeks ago? If you're suddenly going to get thin skinned with Army Major then please hold yourself to the same standards as you are attempting to hold him to.

In addition to you owing me an apology I also expect this demand be upheld in regards to your statements regarding Git Real:

Pursuant to Georgia statute 51-5-11, consider this a formal demand for a retraction of the poster known as "Basmati"'s libelous statement.

In addition, I am asking Cal Beverly as publisher to edit or remove the libelous post in question.

Now I know I'm not going to get an apology or a retraction from you nor do I expect it. But cut the crap with your pious and victimized performance. You portraying yourself as a victim of vile name calling and false accusations on the citizen is quite laughable. I'm sure when Cal read your censorship demand his first reaction was to spit his coffee out his nose all over his monitor in laughter.

Now go back out and play nicely and stop acting like Nellie Olsen.

That's where you two (and a couple of others whose names I really don't need to mention) act like you belong. Why don't you try to act a little more respectfully to others? Every time you people post, the debate, however important or not, turns into a lunchtime, meet me behind the gym, oh yeah; so's your mother, childish, schoolyard, sissy-slapfest.

GROW UP!

Because if you are, I agree! I readily admit that I have an inner child that will never grow up. Think of it as hanging around a boxing gym. You have passionate men and women who are full of life and who aren't just parroting talking points. We believe this stuff that we say. You will notice that the biggest blow ups come from the most intelligent people on these boards: Trey Hoffman, Bas, Army. Jeff Carter is the rare eloquent but unflappable one. And many conservatives use that kindness for weakness. Well, no such misconceptions here eh? This is how boys blow off steam. We'll be back to the normal anymosity by next week. As we all have seen this week, life is short. Play hard! aka come strong or don't come at all.

Cheers,

The answer is in the question. If that is too nondescript try this; if the shoe fits...

The least you could have done was call me eloquent too like you did Jeff.

I don't want people to read too much into what I write. I knew the minute I named a name that I screwed that one up. There are too many good writers here to mention, but you do a remarkable job of keeping your blood pressure low. We can all learn from you. I have said so much on these boards, people could doctor photos of me and a dalmation and I still wouldn't go legal on 'em. I just hope Army doesn't turn me in to the DOD Smiling.

You noticed I didn't care if you called me intelligent. I just wanted to be eloquent like Jeff. I just WANT TO BE SOMEBODY WHEN I GROW UP. Eye-wink

but you do a remarkable job of keeping your blood pressure low.

Now if I can just get that low blood pressure thing working when I'm driving up 85 everyday. In regards to Army I hope Bas's whining hypocrisy didn't really get him banned.

This is a joke.

Bas goes after everyone with a dissenting opinion. After all, anyone who disagrees is either a Nazi, a racist or a member of the Taliban.
