Land swap for fields would be PTC victory

Peachtree City is growing. It’s inevitable. We as citizens should participate in the planning as much as possible to help shape that growth.

The proposed development for Ga. Highway 74 and Rockaway Road includes a land swap of approximately 36 acres adjacent to Meade Field for approximately four acres currently being used for the city’s recycling center.

This land swap would be a great victory for Peachtree City softball and soccer players and our families. With the additional space, Meade Field could expand and become much more usable by serving more of the city’s recreational needs.

The developers have also proposed a public outdoor plaza area beside the park along with restaurants and outside patio tables overlooking the fields. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to sit out there and enjoy a meal with our families before, during or after game time? Among other benefits, we would also have pedestrian access to the fields.

We are working with the developers to reach the best possible outcome. The plans have been worked and reworked. With continued collaboration, we can make our voices heard to enhance Peachtree City and maximize use of Meade Field.

Mrs. McGinty, before you go off the deep-end praising the developer for providing 36 acres of land for fields, try looking at the land in question.

Do you honestly think the developer would be giving up that land if they could build on it?

The land in question is mostly watershed for line creek and is in the flood plane.

Unless you plan on starting a water polo team in PTC, the land is worthless.

While we're at it, just how do you think putting more ball fields in an area that has only one entrance/exit is going to help anyone?

"proposed a public outdoor plaza area beside the park along with restaurants and outside patio tables overlooking the fields."

Can you read a map? The "outdoor" plaza will be close to a half a mile from the soccer fields as the three existing softball fields are what will be located adjacent to the proposed shopping center. You and the kids will have to cross the access road between the fields and the shopping center to get to this "proposed" plaza.

Don't you remember candidate Logsdon "PROPOSED" lowering taxes while maintaining city services?

Just because the developer "PROPOSES" they will do something, you believe them? Do you have it in writing somewhere something that says "The developer will build this plaza"? No you don't

When someone "PROPOSES" something to you remember the three most commonly told lies. I love you. The check is in the mail. I'll let you decide on the third one for yourself.

Children, tell your parents "Don't use DRUGS!"

I agree with Cal Beverly about stop selling all of us short. I heard most of the adult softball players aren't even from Peachtree City, so why should we expand their fields. Does this remind anyone of the tennis center speech we all got years ago? I'm talking about the part where it won't cost us thing.

Nothing can be built without cost to someone. We are just selfish enough however to take and use other people's money for our own benefit.
What a farce that " tax on a motel or hotel isn't a tax and costs nothing." It didn't do the job anyway, too many salaries paid.
