What's your take on the $5000-per-day redistricting expert hired by the Fayette BoE?

The Board of Education lacks subject matter expertise in planning and redistricting - - this last round proves that point. The good news is that they are acknowledging it (which is not an easy thing for them to do)and they are reaching out to one of THE BEST resources around to help them put together a comprehensive 5 year plan - - a real one!

Expensive - yes, but let's put this into perspective: this school board receives the bulk of your property tax dollars. This is a 100% direct investment in our kids - - let's not scrimp. Let's help them put together a real plan for logical placement of schools based on density.

Hallelujah to the School Board for wanting to do the right thing for our Fayette County kids!

This is a further demonstration of leading by consensus rather than vision. CYA is alive and well at FCBOE.

That's the sound of our tax dollars leaking out on the thirsty ground.

And we will just take it on the chin. SOS, different day.

Ok so what happens after we pay this guy $5,000 a day for a bunch of days and the parents aren't satisfied with the results?

The answer is nothing happens. Same result, but the school board and administration get cover because they hired an "expert". Ever seen that happen before? Now it is happening with our taxdollars. What crap.

The FCBOE admitted they made mistakes in the last redistricting fiasco and have sought to rectify it for the next go round. They need to be commended for that. It takes courage to admit mistakes and even more courage to change the way you do things. If you compare the cost of the expert they are hiring to the cost of the faulty software program they purchased for last redistricting he seems a bargain. Remember we have middle schools with trailers and a white elephant new middle school in the middle of the county opening at 35 percent capacity. Something went wrong.
