I felt compelled to respond... For the record, I have nothing against black people at all. In fact, I have a lot of black friends. I have a problem with the attitude that SOME black people have. Many behave as if we owe the world to them, and should look the other way when they utilize double standards. Unfortunately, yesterday, I was a bit fired up over reading "David's Mom's" posts. And then I clicked over to Basmati's Klanpoints post, and became even more enraged. I just don't understand why she can demand an apology from the state of Georgia, and claim that white people want her to forget her heritage, yet when some of us disagree, we're labeled racists. That doesn't make any sense to me. As I said, I have nothing against black people. The culture and attitude that many foster in their communities are, in my opinion, completely counter-productive and hypocritical. Yesterday, my postings were made out of anger. Perhaps I was a bit too harsh with my diction, but I don't apologize for how I feel.

I learn from the 'disagreements' of most posters. I don't recall calling anyone a racist because they disagreed with my point of view. I, personally, am not demanding anything from the state of Georgia.. .and I certainly don't feel that all 'white' people want me to forget my heritage. I appreciate the bi-partisan/bi-racial participation of some leaders of Georgia to find a solution so that all citizens can feel proud of their own heritage and respect and understand the heritage of others.

There was an interesting letter to the editor of AJC - which in short stated that the apology is not asked of individual Georgians - but of the state of Georgia (government) that did put in writing and practice laws that denigrated members of the black community - and instituted laws and practices which were later deemed inhuman.

I appreciate learning how people feel - and feel that learning only occurs when others recognize how others feel. Thanks for sharing your feelings. Sorry my point of view created such anger.
