These recalls were issued this week from March 4 to March 8 by various federal and state agencies. THROAT PLATES FOR ROUTER TABLES MAY EJECT One World Technologies Inc. is recalling Ryobi Router Table Throat Plates sold nationwide from May 2004 to January 2007. The throat plates do not securely snap into the router’s tabletop bit opening. The throat plate can come loose during operation and be ejected from the tabletop, posing a laceration hazard to consumers. The recall involves Ryobi-brand router tables, with model number RT101, which is written on the table’s data plate, located on its front leg. These tables were sold as part of the Ryobi combo kits with model numbers R161RTA and R162RTA Consumers should contact One Word Technologies at (800) 525-2579 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday for a free replacement set of throat plates if the plates do not securely snap into the router bit opening. GAS GRILLS MAY LEAK GAS Weber-Stephen Products is recalling Weber® Genesis® 320™ Series Gas Grills sold nationwide from November 2006 to February 2007. The gas hose attached to the side burner of the grill can crack or break off during shipping, causing it to leak gas when in use, which poses a fire hazard to consumers. This recall involves the Weber® Genesis® 320™ Series gas grills which are designed to be used with either natural gas or with liquid propane gas tanks, and are equipped with a flush-mounted side burner accessory. All serial numbers begin with the prefix “DI”. The model and serial number are located on the tank blocker/drip pan holder located inside the storage cart. EASELS CONTAIN LEAD Discount School Supply is recalling Elite 5-in-1 Easels sold nationwide from July 2004 to November 2006. The paint on the chalkboard side of the recalled easels contains high levels of lead The recalled easels are two-sided, with felt and a pull-out panel on one side and a chalkboard on the other side. The recalled easels include the word “Jolly” at the top. YOUTH JACKETS POSE STRANGULATION HAZARD Cobmex Inc. of Lakewood, Calif. is recalling Youth Jackets with Drawstrings sold nationwide from January 2006 to February 2007. The recalled jackets have drawstrings in the hood and waist, or only at the waist. Children can get entangled and strangle in drawstrings that can catch on playground equipment, fences or tree branches. The nylon, zipper front jackets were sold in youth sizes and have a Cobmex neck label. The jackets were manufactured in various colors, including navy, black, green, red and wine. Only youth-size jackets with drawstrings are included in the recall. Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings to eliminate the hazard or return the jacket to the store where purchased for a refund. BOY’S JACKETS POSE CHOKING AND POISONING HAZARDS H & M of New York, NY is recalling Boy’s Jackets with an attached compass sold nationwide from February 2006 to October 2006. The attached compass on these jackets can break, posing a choking hazard for young children. Additionally, the liquid mineral oil, inside the compass can be harmful if swallowed. The recalled product is a boy’s cotton canvas jacket made exclusively for children in sizes 18M to size 6Y. It has style number 93196 written on the inside care label. There is an attached removable compass on the side. The compasses are copper or turquoise colored, about 2.75-inches long, and have a clip to attach to the jacket. Consumers should immediately remove the compass from the jacket and throw it away, or mail the compass to H & M to receive a store discount coupon. NORDSTROM’S LOUNGE PANTS POSE RISK OF BURN INJURY Nordstrom Inc. of Seattle, Wash.is recalling N-Kids Brand Girl’s Drawstring Flannel Pants and Pine Peak Blues Brand Boy’s Drawstring Flannel Pants sold nationwide from July 2005 to December 2005. These lounge pants are 100 percent cotton and fail to meet the children’s sleepwear flammability standards, posing a risk of burn injury to children. The girl’s recalled drawstring flannel pants were available in assorted plaids and stripes. The girl’s pants have “N-Kids” and the boy’s pants have “Pine Peak Blues” printed on the inside rear waist tag of the pants. Consumers should return the recalled item to Nordstrom.com or to any Nordstrom store for a full refund. DOLLAR STOP PLUS EXTENSION CORDS POSE ELECTROCUTION HAZARD Dollar Stop Plus of Chicago, Ill. is recalling 15-Foot Extension Cords sold nationwide from October 2003 to June 2005. These extension cords have undersized wiring, and fail to connect properly at the plug and receptacle ends. This poses fire, shock and electrocution hazards. The recalled product is a 15-foot white extension cord with green wrap-around green label with bold red and white lettering. The label reads “15 Ft HOUSEHOLD EXTENSION CORD.” The “UL” symbol appears on the label. The cord has a silver UL holographic trademark tag, with “07/99, BV-7582, 13A 125V, 1875 W” printed on it. The cord is marked: SPT-2, 16AWGX2C, VW-1, 60o C. Lifeline and ReviveR Automated External Defibrillators Defibtech, LLC, is recalling Lifeline AED® and ReviveR AEDTM (semi-automatic external defibrillators). This recall affects all Lifeline and ReviveR AEDs with software versions 2.002 and earlier. The self-test software for these devices may allow a self-test to clear a previously detected low battery condition. If this situation occurs, the operator may be unaware of the low battery, and the device may be unable to deliver a defibrillation shock, which could result in failure to resuscitate a patient. INFLATABLE BOUNCE HOUSES CAN DEFLATE Sportcraft Ltd. of Mt. Olive, NJ is recalling Inflatable Bounce Houses sold nationwide from September 2006 to January 2007. The fan and the plastic housing surrounding the fan can break apart during use of the inflatable bounce house, posing a risk of impact injury to consumers. The recall includes the following models: “Castle Kingdom,” “Jump ‘N’ Kingdom,” and “Bounce ‘N’ Playhouse.” The bounce houses are inflated by a yellow, horizontal fan. The fan’s model number, FJ4-330C or FJ4-330C2, is printed on a silver sticker on the fan’s housing. Bounce houses with an “N” at the end of either model number on the fan are not included in this recall. The front wheel forks on these bicycles could have been welded improperly. This poses a risk that the weld could fail, and the rider could lose control and fall. The recall involves BMX bicycles. The model name is printed on the bicycle. Recalled models include the following: Blend 3 - Black Pearl 3 -Fivestar Park Consumers should have the bicycles inspected by a Mirraco dealer. If the inspection shows that the bicycle is part of the recall, the fork will be replaced free of charge. DIVE COMPUTERS CAN CAUSE DECOMPRESSION SICKNESS Pelagic Pressure Systems, of San Leandro, Calif. is recalling Oceanic and AERIS Digital Dive Computers sold nationwide from October 2006 to February 2007. When performing a switch from one gas to another during a dive, the dive computer’s display will lock up and not return to the main dive screen that displays dive times. This can cause divers to enter decompression unknowingly or the diver could ascend prematurely, resulting in decompression sickness. The recall involves Oceanic-brand ATOM 2.0 dive computers with serial numbers 1 through 2,079 (Revisions 2E, 3A, and 3B) and AERIS-brand EPIC dive computers with serial numbers 1 through 712 (Revision 1A), which can be accessed and viewed on the computer’s display. Also, the serial number and date of manufacture are printed on the bottom of the unit (Oceanic ATOM 2.0 from August 23 to November 23, 2006, and AERIS EPIC from October 18 to November 14, 2006). This recall does not include any other Oceanic or AERIS brand dive computers. Consumers should take the dive computers to an authorized Oceanic or AERIS dealer to get a free software upgrade. THINK-PAD NOTEBOOK BATTERIES CAN OVERHEAT Lenovo (United States) Inc., of Research Triangle Park, N.C. is recalling Lithium-ion extended-life batteries used in ThinkPad notebook computers sold nationwide from November 2005 to February 2007. If the battery in the laptop is struck forcefully on the corner, such as from a direct fall to the ground, the battery pack can overheat and pose a fire hazard to users. This is not an internal battery cell defect. Lenovo sold these extended-life batteries with new ThinkPad notebook PCs or as optional or replacement batteries for the following ThinkPad notebook models: R Series (R60 and R60e), T Series (T60 and T60p) and Z Series (Z60m, Z61e, Z61m, and Z61p). The recalled 9-cell batteries have the following part number, which can be found on the battery label: FRU P/N 92P1131. UPDATE ON PEANUT BUTTER RECALL Consumers who have any of the products listed below should discard them. Individuals who are not sure if the purchased product contains the recalled peanut butter topping should contact the store where the product was purchased. The bulk peanut butter was used to make the following toppings: · Sonic Brand Ready-To-Use Peanut Butter Topping in 6 lb. 10.5 oz cans. Sonic outlets used the topping until 2/16/07, when the product was recalled.
