Just a questionGood afternoon, I am a deputy with the Fayette County Sheriff’s office. I work the morning watch and have been quietly following the talk around the Department about who from the Department is going to run for Sheriff in 2008. I have been off for a few days and returned to work to be told that Lt. Colonel Wayne Hannah has officially announced that he is running for the office of Sheriff. I was standing with a group of my peers that were discussing how bad that would be for the department, when a thought struck me, that thought was that Hannah can’t be the next Sheriff because his wife is a Lieutenant with the Department and we have a policy that says that a spouse or relative can not be supervised by the other. When I mentioned this to my friends, they advised me that Hannah had already figured out how to solve this problem. I was advised that Hannah has already said that he will change the policy so that his wife can remain an employed Lieutenant working for him. My question and concern is this; are we as employees going to be subject to four years of the Bruce way of supervising where if the rules don’t fit the boss then the boss just changes the rules. I don’t think it’s fair to us and I don’t think that’s the kind of person we want representing us or the citizens of Fayette County. Please think before you vote! savethedepartment's blog | login to post comments |
