State tournament times announced

Eight local basketball teams have made the state tournaments in their respective classifications. There will three games on Friday and five on Saturday.

Sandy Creek's girls, the second seed out of region 6-AAA, will host the North Hall Lady Trojans at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Up the road a bit in Fairburn, Landmark Christian's Lady War Eagles, aka the Brickhouse Belles will host Lakeview Academy at 7 p.m. Landmark won the region 5-A title.

Starr's Mill's Lady Panthers will travel to Evans to face the Greenbrier Lady Wolfpack at 6 p.m. on Friday. Greenbrier won their region championship and is undefeated.

The first game on Saturday will be Landmark's boys at Tallulah Falls at 2 p.m. The War Eagles are the third seed from Class A.

Fayette County's Lady Tigers, the region 2-AAAA champions, will host Effingham County at 5 p.m. on Saturday and the Fayette County boys, also region champions, will host Ware County following the girl's game.

The McIntosh Chiefs, the fourth seed from region 2-AAAA, will play their first state basketball game in school history on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Richmond Academy.

Whitewater's boys, the third seed from region 2-AAAA, will play their first state basketball game in school history on Saturday as well when they travel to take on Statesboro at 7 p.m.

Thanks for posting the game times. I'd like to see as much support as possible for our local teams as they start battle in the State Tournament. As a community, we should be proud of all of these young ladies and young men. This is a pretty big deal to have this many teams in the tournament. I wish all players and coaches the best! GO TIGERS!!
