An unemployed Snellville man has been arrested by the Peachtree City Police Department for trying to arrange a sexual act via the Internet with a girl he thought was 13 years old.

The girl was actually an undercover Peachtree City police officer, police said. William Allen Farr, 52, was charged with violation of the computer pornography and child exploitation act of 1999, police said.

During the conversations with the undercover officer, Farr used language “of an extremely illicit sexual nature,” police said.
The operation was conducted in an effort between the police department, the federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency and the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.

This is the 19th such arrest for the Peachtree City Police Department since it began the ongoing undercover sting in May 2004. It was one of the first-ever Georgia police departments to conduct such investigations and the effort has led to a number of high-profile reports in national media outlets.

Farr was arrested Friday after federal agents served a search warrant on his home in Snellville earlier in the week, seizing computers, police said. Farr lived at the home with his daughter and granddaughter, police said.
