MAYOR TAX EXEMPT?

Looks like the mayor of PTC must be tax exempt. As of 2/17/07, the taxes on his property was unpaid according to the Tax Commissioners Website. This is a person, who in in charge of our city, fails to pay his part.?????????

I just spoke with Mayor Logsdon and he said the 2006 bill was paid, and he has the cancelled check to prove it.

When I checked this on the tax commissioner site, www.fayettecountytaxcomm.com, it did show Mr. Logsdon's bill as having an outstanding balance. To check, I pulled up my own bill, which listed a zero balance (indicating that it had been paid).

Is it a snafu with the tax commissioner's records? Who knows? Why don't the rest of you out there in blogger land check your tax bill online and report back to us if it shows zero balances once you've paid.

I checked the tax commissioners web site.
It shows that my property taxes has an oustanding balance. I paid them in October 2006. It should show a zero balance. I also have my cancelled check. I plan on calling them now.

So Harold actually paid his taxes and he has a cancelled check to prove it? Well, what does that mean? It means he paid his taxes, but it also means he doesn't have a mortgage, since if he did the mortgage company would have an escrow account and pay his taxes for him. Right?

So the crime here is not having a mortgage. Why doesn't he have a mortgage? Isn't that suspicious right after he got elected mayor? Who paid him off? Or who paid his mortgage off? Don't you think we should look into this?

Any volunteers? Sandysue, you have time to do this?

Actually Mudcat it is not a requirement to have a tax excrow account with a mortgage. My last two mortgages, going back to the early 80s, have been without escrow accounts. I think some lenders may require excrow for taxes, but believe it is based upon percentage of down payment on purchase price. Maybe it's just lender policy. Not sure.

Well, they always made me have one. Is that because I'm a cat and you as a dog(uck!) get an exemption?
I hope not because that would really upset me. Cats are smarter than dogs and they have higher balances in their savings accounts. In fact, the dog that lives here doesn't even have a savings account - dumb dog - go lick your butt again.

You just may have slinked around a point in that response. Have you discounted anti-felinism and feline discrimination? Personally I think it's a matter of trustworthiness. And who, or what, would want to stash a dead mouse and a hairball somewhere? Woof

I don't "stash" dead mice I bring them to my owner/feeder as a gift for her and proof of my hunting skills. Not sure what the toothbrush and mouthwash is all about, but she seems to like the gift.

Mentioning hairballs to a feline is like asking your girlfriend about a yeast infection. I won't respond. My advice would be to never mention it again.

The tax comm. office tells me my taxes are paid in full.
They are in the process of updating their web site. They must be real busy, this is Feb. 2007.

I hope you don't believe that the records on that site are up to the moment and current.

People, people, people, sounds like his mortgage company has some "splaining" to do. It also sounds like they will pay a big fine for being late. This happened to me once and the bank ended up paying a rather hefty fine for it.

I'm no harold fan, but this one lies on his banks shoulders unless his home is payed off.

Well not always is the bank responsible, only if you hold an escrow account with the bank. If you have paid more than 20% of the home you do not have to hold an escrow account with your bank. It is your responsibility to pay the insurance and taxes. Harold ran his campaign on his financial abilities; he probably does not hold an escrow account with his bank, being the financial wiz he is. So come on Harold pay up or your house may be for sale on the courthouse steps. You do not want that to happen (or do you? Maybe you do as you are finding out the Mayor job is more than 12 hours a week) as you must be a resident of Peachtree City to be Mayor.
