Three local girls teams move on in region basketball tournamentsWed, 02/14/2007 - 8:52am

Starr's Mill's Lady Panthers handed the McIntosh Lady Chiefs a 22-21 loss on Tuesday, ending the season for McIntosh and putting themselves into the state tournament. Starr's Mill was led in scoring by Alexis Shaffer, who scored 13 points. The Lady Panthers will take on Westlake on Friday at 7 p.m. Fayette County's Lady Tigers met Northgate on Tuesday and won 52-46. Tessah Holt led Fayette County with 17 points, while Natalie Pluskota led Northgate with 18 points. The Lady Tigers have also qualified for the state tournament. They will take on Woodward Academy at 4 p.m. on Friday. In the region 5-A tournament on Tuesday, Our Lady of Mercy defeated Atlanta International School 41-36. Raven Moore scored 11 points for Our Lady of Mercy, while Kelly Tolcher scored 10 points, pulled in eight rebounds and recorded three steals, Alex Miles added seven points, 10 rebounds and eight steals and Camille Thompson scored seven points, recorded five rebounds and had three steals. The Lady Bobcats will take on St. Francis on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. and will qualify for the state tournament with a win. login to post comments |
