A relationship gone bad has left one man dead and another in critical condition at Atlanta Medical Center.

The deadly shootout occurred about 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning at 15 James Place in Sharpsburg, according to Capt. James Yarborough of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department.

Vance Tanner, 36, had recently broken up with his girlfriend, Naomi Laguns, 35. Laguns had moved in with her new boyfriend, Kevin Wendt, 35, of 15 St. James Place, and Tanner had discovered where she was living.

“He entered the residence about 5:30 a.m. with a gun, but Wendt also had a firearm,” Yarborough said.

Tanner was killed in the firefight and Wendt was airlifted to Atlanta Medical center for his injuries. Laguns was not injured in the fray, Yarborough, added.

The Sheriff’s Department has already talked to Laguns and plans to talk to Wendt when he is well enough to speak.

“The case is still under investigation and no charges have been filed,” Yarborough said.
