The standoff between a North Fayette man and Fayette County sheriff's deputies ended shortly after it began Monday afternoon.

The deputies came to the house at 340 Bentley Way investigating a report of shots fired after 2 p.m., and the sheriff's SWAT team circled the perimeter of the house. Initially there was difficulty communicating with the man, and a negotiator spoke using a PA system.

The standoff ended at approximately 3:45 p.m. as the man peacefully exited the home seconds after his father approached the home.

No crime was committed, but the unidentified man was "disturbed" according to sheriff's spokesperson Lt. Belinda McCastle.
