City, DOT to close path crossing at 74Thu, 01/18/2007 - 3:45pm

The cart path crossing across Crosstown Road at Ga. Highway 74 will be closed for safety reasons during the highway widening project, city officials said. The closure will temporarily eliminate golf cart access to the U-Store-It storage facility, Best Western, McDonalds, and the Detail Store on the north side of Crosstown Road, according to the city. “The City’s Engineering Department and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) have made this decision due to the increased construction traffic at the intersection,” said city spokesperson Betsy Tyler. ”Work will also be extending onto Crosstown as the intersection improvements for the highway widening are made.” Tyler noted that golf carts have never been permitted to cross Highway 74 at the intersection. The highway construction will eventually close the path along the southern side of Crosstown Road as well to golf cart access to the Valvoline, Wendy’s and the Kwickie/Flash Foods Store. The GDOT could not give an time frame for reopening the paths on Crosstown, Tyler indicated. login to post comments |
