Mt. Olive Baptist Church Members (And friends)...I just wanted you all to know how disgusted I was to pick up The Citizen this morning and see the picture and caption on the front page. Before you get on your high horses and call me a racist, know this: I don't care if you think I am. I am done being polite. For you all to have depicted the children toward the front of the bus in "whiteface" is despicable. I honestly am not personally offended by such an action. Rather, I am enraged because if WHITE people were to hold a parade memorializing Robert E. Lee, and have white children pretending to be slaves wearing "blackface" makeup, you all would cry foul. You would be on the nearest telephone (probably the cell phone that you have, even though you're on food stamps), and calling the Reverend Jesse Jackson. The "Reverend" would organize a counter-protest, call all the obnoxious, loud-mouthed, high-profile black people he could, and "RACISM" would be shouted from the roof tops. DOUBLE-STANDARD. It just amazes me the poor taste in which the organizers of this parade conducted themselves. This was tacky. And I am ashamed that you all were having your little "parade" in Fayetteville. It made me incredibly angry to see this depiction on the front of the Fayette Citizen. I don't care WHAT it was that you were trying to illustrate: the manner in which you did it was deplorable.
