Initial plans for Friendship Village, the first of three proposed villages in Chattahoochee Hill Country, have been submitted to Georgia Dept. of Community Affairs. Plans call for developing 5,981 residential units, nearly a million square feet of retail and office space and 96,500 square feet of civic and institutional use on 1,997.6 acres. Friendship Village is a project of Atlanta developer Minerva Properties, LLP. The project is located north of South Fulton Parkway in the vicinity of Rivertown Road and Porter Terry Road. The site is west of Cascade-Palmetto Road and is approximately 2.5 miles north of Palmetto. Developers plan to access water supplies from the City of Atlanta and wastewater treatment capabilities from Fulton County. Friendship Village is subject to approval through the Development of Regional Impact (DRI) process. Subsequent required actions involving Fulton County will include rezoning and variance requests. The Chattahoochee Hill Country vision includes the development of three villages and an undetermined number of hamlets within the current 32,000 acre region. The first of the Hamlets, Serenbe, is currently in development. Long-held Hill Country concept plans call for maintaining approximately 80 percent of the Hill Country area as greenspace. login to post comments |
