PTC Council, heed citizens, slow growth

I have been a long-time resident of Peachtree City for the past 25 years and I am beginning to wonder when we can start to slow some of the massive growth that is happening all around us.

Peachtree City is a great place to live but it seems to me that we are going to ruin a very good thing unless we are very, very careful. Seems to me that we were told that a few mega stores on Ga. Highway 54 would have no impact on traffic. Guess someone was wrong.

1. I sure hope that all those homes that are on Ga. Highway 74 that now have no backyards were somehow compensated for the huge loss in their home values because of the expansion of Hwy. 74. If not then they should be. We need to do the right thing.

2. TDK expansion? There is no way that that is not going to have a severe impact on PTC. It will cause massive traffic jams and folks that say we need it to help the Braelinn Shopping Center just don’t get it.

People will be driving over to Coweta to shop in the newer centers and our tax dollars will be going that way as well. It is a huge win-win for Coweta but a huge loss for PTC. City Council, please listen to your fellow neighbors.

3. I am currently a resident in the Wilshire neighborhood and am very worried about the proposed mega-shopping center they are planning to build across from Publix and Mike and C’s Family Sports Grill.

The land use plan called for this to be homes. Retirement homes were proposed a few years back that would have brought a lot of senior citizens to the area and the developer was planning on helping with moving Rockaway Road to match up with Holly Grove.

Folks, this was a win-win for PTC. Senior citizens would have helped the economy with very little impact on the schools. They would be spending money on dining, medical and dental services, landscaping, and just in general shopping. It was voted down because they said it was in Falcon Field’s flight line.

This to me just does not hold water in that all I have ever seen is planes taking off and landing in the direction of the golf course.

The proposed 290,000 square-foot shopping center in the Wilshire area is not needed and would bring down the neighborhood. We do not want the crime, trash, and traffic.

If they want to develop something, then how about a office park or relook at the idea of senior citizen homes.

City council, slow the growth and take a look at the area. Don’t destroy it and please make a wise choice.

The bums don't care Mike. The Logsdon-Rutherford-Boone lock on the council votes mean we get screwed.

Vote Republican
