Another year has come to a close, and, like most of us, I can’t help but take stock, say goodbye to those we lost, and look ahead to another year of second chances. And now for something completely different: my first annual “Sit Down and Shut Up” awards.

Top 10 people I would most like to see Sit Down and Shut Up in 2007:

10. Lynn Westmoreland, our esteemed U.S. Representative for District 8. Check out Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynn_Westmoreland for a dose of Westmoreland admitting to being “one of the two do-nothingest” members in Congress and fighting the Voting Rights Act. For the love of God.

9. Brett Mussberger. Obviously.

8. Anyone on The View. Apparently this is a TV show.

7. Tom Shane.

6. Harold Logsdon: too little, too late. At least step aside and let someone else get the job done.

5. Donald Trump. His big head will not grace my big TV screen. Fire this.

4. Donald Rumsfeld. What? Oh, never mind.

3. Wes Sarginson, Atlanta TV newscaster: Sorry, Wes, I stopped watching following 9/11 when you presented the face of Satan in the smoke on the side of the World Trade Center before it collapsed. As if you bring us news.

2. Ann Coulter. I stopped reading Ann Coulter following the tragic Brian Nichols courthouse shootings in Atlanta: she was very outspoken on the matter involving a perpetrator overpowering a grandmotherly police officer, writing about why women should not work outside the home. Think about that for a minute: Ann Coulter blasting women who work outside the home.

And the number one person I would like to see sit down and shut up in 2007 is —

1. Laura Mallory, the Gwinnett County mom leading a massive drive consisting of one person fighting to remove Harry Potter books from school library shelves. “No” means no, Laura.

Looking forward to a very happy 2007!

You hit the nail on Westmoreland and Trump for sure. What … no Britney Spears or Paris Hilton? Can't wait to see the next Harold Logsdon mega dense drama on the westwide. He’ll tell us “it’s only traffic” and the classic “we won’t have to raise your taxes to paid for their services.”
