A Fairburn woman was killed Wednesday night when her truck crashed on Milam Road near Old Milam Road, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Celeste Angela Chastain, 31, was driving east on Milam Road in her 1988 Chevy pickup just before 8 p.m. when the vehicle left the road to the right, striking a mailbox, police said. The truck then veered back onto the road and crossed into the westbound lanes, leaving the road and striking an embankment, police said.
Chastain was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Because alcohol was found in the truck, a blood sample was taken from Chastain to determine whether or not she was legally impaired at the time of the crash, police said.

Chastain was traveling alone at the time of the crash, police said.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, said Lt. Col. Wayne Hannah of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Thank you for the information. This accident happened close to my home. My husband was the first person there. It has devestated both
of us. I am praying for her family. I would like to know if anyone
can help us find closure with this. If there is anyone who would be
willing to communicate, it would be very much appreciated.

Does anyone kmow the funeral arrangements for this young lady?

Angie's parents are having a private funeral at Melrose Cemetary in Villa Rica, GA. The arrangements are being handled by Collins Funeral Home in Villa Rica. I spoke with someone there and it is a graveside service only. Flowers have to be sent to the cemetary.

Do you know her?

I do know her. She is friends with my daughter. I was very sad about this, and was very thankful my daughter was not with her because my daughter lived in the same house with her. My daughter told me she had gone to bed and Angie came to her door and did want her to go with her. My daughter said she was almost asleep and said no. Angie was a sweeet girl, but she had a serious drinking problem and should not have been behind the wheel of the Truck. She did not have a drivers license. This is the sad consequences of drinking and driving. She should not have been allowed to get in the vehicle - it was her boyfriend's truck.

Good point - it also needs to serve as a reminder that there are consequences for our behavior.

We need to all be careful in what we say and do. Temperance is a virtue.

My prayers and condolences go out to her family and those of the gentleman who was first on the scene and his wife. Having been in that position myself, time will help heal your wounds and trepidation.
