Fayette, PTC police, emergency folks, thanks

With the talk lately on all the bad things about Peachtree City, I’m pleased to report on something quite good about our town. On the night of Wednesday, Dec. 13, a member of my family suffered from a potentially serious medical condition which caused me to activate the Fayette County 911 system.

I’m pleased to report that everyone involved in my call for assistance responded in a most considerate manner, the epitome of professionalism. From the 911 operator, to the paramedics/EMTs, to the police, the handling of my family’s crisis was superb.

Fortunately, prayers were answered and my family member is fully recovered, thanks in no small measure to their response. From the time I called 911 to when the paramedics arrived could not have been more than five minutes.

In my duties, I have traveled to places in this world where people have no 911 system to call in times of emergencies. Or if they do, they hope that any help comes at all, let alone timely or effective. We in our country in general and in Peachtree City specifically tend to take for granted all the everyday heroes serving to make this such a great place to live.

In this busy time of year, when we stop to count our blessings, remember those working to ensure our health and welfare. We are blessed to have such top-notch professionals and volunteers and I’m certain they don’t get thanked nearly enough.

To all Fayette County 911 operators; Peachtree City firefighters/EMTs, both paid and volunteer; and Peachtree City police, thanks for what you do. You make all our lives better, but sometimes we don’t realize it until we need you. The great thing is, when we need you, you answer the call.

Thank you for your letter. You can bet that it will be cut and pasted on bulletin boards at the stations and the 911 center.

I am pleased that your response from 911, the officers, and the EMTs was as it should be. That is what we strive for, every day. I hope you never need to call us again, but if you do, we're there.
