Some PTC drivers unsafe at any speed

I recently have had two experiences where I and my wife were almost struck by a golf cart due to inconsiderate or inattentive driving.

The first incident involved a cart that was being driven without lights. My wife and I were almost hit one evening and when I communicated this situation to the driver his response was insulting and disrespectful.

The other incident involved a driver who was driving on the wrong side of the cart path as I approached a curve while riding my bike. I fortunately was in sight of the cart, anticipated what might happen and rode my bike off of the cart path to avoid being hit.

These almost accidents should be yet another warning signal to apprise cart drivers of what is not the proper way to drive a golf cart. I hope that this response will cause all drivers to be more careful, attentive and responsible when they are behind the wheel.

I also believe that more visible police presence on the cart paths would help in reducing golf cart speeds and to caution or fine those who are driving irresponsibly.

Write to the city council, demand that your taxes to be raised to pay for more officers. I did the last time this issue came up, but I think I was the only one begging them to raise my taxes.

There are many problems on the paths, and I think we are at a turning point. The teens have made monkeys of all of us. They get away with crime almost dailey. As soon as the career criminals figure out what an open door the paths are for crime we are done. We are either going to hire more cops now and pay them better or we are going to change our name to Peachdale, or crime_renter_dale, which ever is more appealing.
People that live on the busiest paths know what you are saying is true Mr. Cook. If I had known what I know now I wouldn't have bought a home on the cart path. After thousands of dollars in losses(most reinbursed by the parents,(after their kids get arrested) who have abidicated there responsibility as parents/friends) it is irritating to say the least.

So will you be showing up at city council meetings demanding more officers be hired? Because, right now, there are not enough to answer the regular calls *and* patrol the paths.
