For your consideration - The local Masters swim club gave awards for outstanding swimming to the following for 2005-2006:

Lauren Cartwright was honored as the outstanding female swimmer for 2005-2006. Lauren is the daughter of Chris and Mary Cartwright and is Senior at Starr’s Mill High School. As a member of the Starr’s Mill team, she is the 2006 GHSA State Champion in the 200 yd individual medley and the 100 yd butterfly. She also achieved automatic All-American status those two events during the 2005-2006 season. As a member of Southern Crescent Aquatic Team, Lauren is a state champion, regional qualifier, Junior National Qualifier, US Open Qualifier, and 2008 US Olympic Trials qualifier. She is also a USA Swimming Georgia All-Star. Lauren also excels in the classroom while taking honors classes, is listed in on the Honor Roll, and is an active member of the Key Club.

Thomas Lucak was honored as the outstanding male swimmer for 2005-2006. Thomas is the son of Brad and Kim Lucak and is a recent graduate of McIntosh High School. As a member of the McIntosh team, Thomas is a 2006 GHSA State Championship finalist in the 100 yd butterfly and consolation finalist in the 100 yd backstroke. He also lead his team’s 200 yd Medley Relay to the consolation finals. As a member of Southern Crescent Aquatic Team, he is a State, Sectional, and Jr. Nationals qualifier. He is also a USA Swimming Georgia All-Star. Thomas also excelled in the classroom and was named the Salutatorian at McIntosh for 2006.

Both are excellent swimmers and well deserving of the recognition from the Citizen.
