Starr's Mill Football Team Finishes in Top Ten .... again.

Enigma's picture

Congratulations to the Starr's Mill Panthers for finishing in the top ten in the state this year.

Once again, Fayette County is well represented at the state level.

We have much to be proud of in McIntosh, Fayette County, Sandy Creek, Starr's Mill and Whitewater.

Out of 159 counties, we seem to be at the top in so many things. God job students!

Fayette Teams are playing in a tough region:

Class AAAA

1. Northside-Warner Robins (15-0)
2. Marist (13-2)
3. Creekside (11-1)
4. St. Pius (11-3)
5. East Paulding (12-2)
6. Dacula (10-2)
7. Griffin (11-1)
8. Thomas County Central (9-4)
9. Habersham Central (10-3)
10. Starr's Mill (9-4)

Two of the top ten are from this region. Anyone see south Georgia on this list? Not sure Thomas County is south of Middle Georgia- interesting.

Let me them keep overlooking our teams, South Georgia had their days but this whole area has to be reckoned with now!

A healthy Starr's Mill team at the end of the season really pulled through.

The recent redistricting is really going to hurt McIntosh. It's hard to compete went some of your best players in all sports keep getting pulled out from under you.

I didn't follow the redistricting all that closely but I thought it involved middle schools. Is there a direct impact on McIntosh?

I think what he is referring to is the lack of continuity that the new middle school will provide for sports programs. Bennett's Mill will feed three high schools. I don't think they will be able to teach all three's school's systems to their athletes.

As for the 'raiding' of players, that referrs to the opening of new high schools and the drawing of district lines to exclude former potential players.

Each time you change boundries or open a school it has an effect on high school sports for at least one high school.

McIntosh was first 'raided' when Sandy Creek opened, then again when Starr's Mill opened. Starr's Mill went through some of that, as did Fayette, when Whitewater opened. Imagine what a team of the best of Sandy Creek, McIntosh, Starr's Mill and Whitewater would be like....that's what places like Camden County have. Those huge schools with 3000+ kids in grades 10-12 is what we compete against in 5A. Even in 4A this year schools like Creekside had 2,300 kids. It makes it tough but we somehow get it done. All the while we smoke them in SAT and other major tests. Dang we're good Eye-wink
