FMS and FCHS athletic programs

Totally agree with the comments made regarding the lack of continuity between FMS and FCHS programs compared to the other schools in the county. I am not familiar with the softball and volleyball programs but just look at the football team. Despite a 5-35 record the administration has decided not to make any changes in the football program. I can understand why the FMS football coach is reluctant to a part of an unsuccessful program. It's ironic how the same boys can be middle school champs, Blue Devil champs, have winning JV seasons but wind up with 1-9 records at the varsity level. At some point someone has to question the coaching, preparation and structure of the FCHS football program. The administration has to be willing to recruit and hire the best people to coach these teams. There are certified teachers and coaches available who would love to have the opportunity to turn our athletic programs around but unfortunately will never have the chance until Dr. Warr retires.

The football program at FCHS desperately needs a new coach! It is too much athletic talent on that team. There was an article in the AJC that discussed how successful football programs have HS administration support. Dr. Warr could care less about how the players and the parents feel about the current coach. It is a sad situation at FCHS right now. 6 boys dropped of the team this year. Parents have told the coach that next year he will not have their support. Several booster parents have stated they will not join the booster club next year. Students are not interested in their team. The administration needs to listen to all the complaints they have received this year and rethink about signing this coach up again for next year. Don't stop with the head coach, get rid of the offense and defense coordinators too!

footballfan...Please remember that FMS is the feeder school for FCHS.
I believe the problem starts there. FMS sports is the pits. It's not just the football program.

The softball program at FMS is so bad girls stopped trying out.
I feel bad for the FCHS softball team. I read a blog on here a few weeks ago FCHS didn't have a JV team this year!

Something needs to be done about this. Maybe by someone in the school system who has the authority to do so.

Parents speak up. Send your comments to these two schools. Maybe that will help.
Who knows?

First to comment on something Diamondgirl wrote about the FMS football coach maybe not wanting to be a part of an "unsuccessful program" - it shouldn't be his choice, but should be a requirement of his job, to be a PART of the program to ensure continuity from the middle to high school programs.

Footballfan: From what I've been told: it wouldn't be much of a change if "several booster parents don't join the booster club," a very small percentage of parents help financially, and physically, to support the booster club/football program anyway. The Athletic Director really needs to get on board in support of the football program, too, but to be rid of him would be a huge improvement.
