...I absolutely will NOT support any "teen program" led by the city. Will not allow my kids to attend. Don't want my tax dollars supporting it. I don't trust that there will be proper supervision. And as everything else directed at teens around here has failed because of the behavior of the PTC teens, why would this be any different? The teens haven't changed for the better, that's for sure.

I talked to someone in lawenforcement and they said that in Fayette county they really don't have as many problems with kids and crime as they do in PTC. They said PTC kids have historically always been the worst.

What gives? Why are the parents so pathetic here?

I have read this over and over, in the newspaper everyone thinks PTC kids are the best, it's Fayette and Tyrone the other areas in Fayette that people say the teens are bad.

Do you live in PTC, I know when I go to PTC, the teens and kids and Parents don't have one ounce of respect for people. I know I will get it from both sides, this is what I have experencied.

Kids and parents run over you in golf carts, kids do what they want without parent supervision, at playgrounds kids are swinging- parent swinging them but the parent is on the cell phone. Wow, what attention that child gets.

If you live in PTC I am surprised you are willing to step up to the plate and say that lawenforcement say in Fayette county they don't have as much trouble as they have in PTC.

I myself havent't - in other areas kids are not perfect a little more respectful. Good thing these people don't know your real name.

You must be new here. Yes I do live in PTC.

I'm not the only one who presses charges every time.

There is good and bad everywhere. I have talked to many people in lawenforcment both here and in other cities. The first reason that cops do NOT choose to work in PTC is because the pay is so low compared to other cities. The second reason is because of the kids here and the kind of "parents" they have. Most cops don't get paid enough to put up with the verbal abuse they take off of these so called "christian parents".

How or why did you dig up this old post?

Happy crime free holiday.

I don't remember how I got the old post, maybe I put in your name or clicked on your name and it pulled it up, anyway it did.

We have been here a little over a year or so. We rent at the moment, we are looking into which area we would like to buy a house, some say it's a good time now. We are just trying to figure out which area we want.

Have you lived here long, and what could you recommend as far as research of how to determine where to live? Thanks for any input.

My personal favorite neighborhood is North Cove, followed by Kedron Hills.

This is a good time to buy. Lots of homes on the market. When you look and you have found "the one" visit that neighborhood both day and night. See if it is the atmosphere you want. Good Luck and welcome to our city.

These comments by imsho and skyspy are precisely why we have a small percentage of our teens in the city areas (of course there are no bad ones in Brooks, Tyrone, and the unincorporated) who seem incorrigible to this one cop you talked to.
Strange how about 80% of them graduate from college or serve their country, being such terrible kids!
I will agree that many of these kids have little respect for many adults, and I think that is what you and the police don't like the most.
If instead of turning these kids loose at about 14 to roam the county, mostly the two cities, only to be hasseled by adults calling the police for loudness, drinking, squealing tires, having parties in small homes, etc., there was a supervised place or two they could be youths, I think you would see a vast improvement in about five years.
It is hard to run a YMCA, YWCA, or a teen center, where nearly everything teens will appreciate occurs under one roof. And I know the city administration and the police do not want the responsibility, but that is pure selfishness as far as I am concerned. This has little to do with parents who are poor leaders---if they are poor they are poor, punish them!

80% go to college? Who cares, Ted Bundy went to college and law school......look how he turned out.

Try to come up with a plausible argument. Puuullleeesse

Who he? Was he a bad teen here?
We could put the kids back in sewing factories at 8 years of age for 12 hours per day, 6 days a week. For 5 cents an hour.
That way they would make our stuff affordable here again, and keep them out of trouble. Darn kids! All of em were really nice when I was little.

Is that even a serious question? He was a mass murderer who is dead, thank god. It was a waste of tax money to feed that garbage.

The point was/is (when you sober up this will make more sense) that criminals go to college. Dahmer went to college for a year, he was also in the army for two, until he got kicked out for being totally whack. Do a google search on the FBI database on criminals,...see how many have college degrees. Piece of paper, and it doesn't mean a thing.

Criminals go to college, just because someone goes to college doesn't make them a good or a successful person.

Just because the satanic thugs here go to college doesn't mean they aren't criminals.

Do you think if you gave up your crack habit you would be a more productive person?

It's very quiet here this morning. Can't you come up with something to stir up enthusiasm?

How's this?

Bad PTC has admitted on Fayette Speaks that he used to be the big guy that danced really funky for 96 Rock some years back. Worse he says that after a couple of drinks this occurs in his underwear, with his earphones on while listening to Gada Da Vita and writing complex code for programs at work.

Ok...how's that. You gotta cover for me know cause he's already threated to spam me with John Denver tunes.

Darn,
and to think that I was the only one that would do something like that!

I'll tell you a song that sticks in my head when I think about it and it won't go away, "It's a small world" from the Disney theme park.

skyspy, I don't think the parents are pathetic (well, at least, not all of them are pathetic). I think they have affluenza; they have solidly middle-to-upper-middle-class lives and they spend most of their time guarding their socio-economic standing rather than raising their kids. Their money buys their kids out of all but the very worst criminal trouble and they give their kids enough "stuff" to reassure themselves that they are "good" parents. Meanwhile, the kids are left to raise themselves. They aren't equipped to live in a world where nobody hands them everything they want or where they have to perform hard work.

Pity the children of the well-off. In my experience, their parents value their money more than their kids . . . and sometimes, the kids know it.

swmbo,
affluenza is the right term for this problem, you hit the nail on the head.

It is mostly living off the second mortgage and credit cards, just as our government does with borrowed funds.

Submitted by skyspy on Mon, 12/04/2006 - 7:57pm.

Is this going to involve my tax dollar??? What do the teens here want, besides free reign ??? Extra police I will pay for.....the parents of these brats need to pay for any extra programs.

Not my mistakes I shouldn't have to pay for them.

Submitted by dollaradayandfound on Tue, 12/05/2006 - 12:55pm.

Haven't met a teen lately who has anything good to say about our law and judicial system.
What good does it do to fine a 14-15 year old, even a 16-17 year old, and then put them on probation for two years attending meeting where they learn to hate more?
Just what are these crimes these kids commit? Graffiti-make them clean it off; having fun loudly-oh, I don't know, maybe feed the pond ducks; shoplifting-give them more money you tight wad!
These ideas are no more stupid than how these horrible crimes are now being handled. Bring back the public stockades, the cat-o-nine-tails, or, send them off to sea for 3-4 years.

Submitted by skyspy on Tue, 12/05/2006 - 3:58pm.

I wish we could bring back the stockades for the horrendous parents, horse whipping would be good too.

Gasp, the worthless thug argument for abortion teens have nothing good to say about law enforcement??????? Ooooohhhh I'm sooooo saaaadddddd to hear that.

You really are a teen on crack aren't you?? Come on it's just one or two of us here, you can tell us.

It's only money. Heck, if PTC can pay the debts of those clowns to keep them from losing their houses and businesses due to their corrupt dealings with the Tennis Center then surely they can scarf up some of your tax dollars for the teens. Hey guys...remember... it's only money and you need to do this for the children.

Submitted by skyspy on Mon, 12/04/2006 - 10:30pm.

We have had to pay for the buffoon group of dumb and dumber, white collar criminal poster idiots. Now we have to pay for a program for ungrateful birthcontrol failures?

Whatever "program" they have cooked up here unless it involves alcohol and illegal drugs, the kids here won't go anyway. That is why the teen program failed before. The adults dared to impose rules, silly rules like....don't do anything illegal....stupid and totally whack ideas.

I'm not happy about giving my money to hack developers who couldn't build a simple garden shed and do it right to save their souls....much less a tennis center....that they botched the first time around.
Since we have to pay the white collar criminals, sorry no money for the teen criminals.

Maybe, just maybe we could get the group of 2 1/2 and no brains to use the money that is "accidently(yeah right) unaccounted for" from the tennis center to pay for the teen program.
