Loco's in Fayetteville

Has anyone else noticed that Loco's has closed it's doors? I heard rumor of it on Friday afternoon while dining at another restaurant in Fayetteville. Anyone know why? What happened?

I'm sure that if you have ever eaten at Loco's there would be no doubt that what eventually closed the doors was the horrible service. Not to mention the fights on the weekend's and the serving of underage customer's that drew lot's of negative attention there way.

Honestly, I was thinking it had something to do with the alcohol being served to underage people. And yes, the service has gotten worse over the years. AND, I've seen MANY nights there where Fayetteville P.D. has made arrests. I went by last night to see if anything was posted on the door as to the reasons for the closure. There is a small snippet of paper with an Ayn Rand quote referring to the criminalization of supposedly innocent people when there are no criminals to be found. Infer what you will from THAT. But it somewhat reinforced my idea as to the alcohol-service to underages issue...

There was a Loco's in F'ville?

Kidding: I have spotted it when at Kroger, but was never tempted by the strip mall store front venue.

They probably weren't doing enough business on Sundays with F'ville's Baptist-inspired ordinances on alcohol sales.

Meanwhile, a bit of internet research has yielded what I thought I recalled about Onyxx. It is black-owned and apparently intends primarily to serve the burgeoning local upscale black population.

I'm fine with all of that so long as somebody tells me: Is white folk welcome, too? Smiling Live jazz and good food are hard to come by, so I still intend to give it a shot. (I would prefer blues, actually. But you take what you can get.)

If the business was primarily to serve the burgeoning local upscale black population, that would be a pretty bad business plan. There just aren't that many upscale black folks in this area to sustain a business entirely dedicated to serving that one demographic, from what I can tell.

I think bad_ptc's got it right; if the money's green, they'll work to make the paying customers happy. So think about asking about a blues night. I could go for the blues on a Sunday evening.

If you and I are always in agreement, one of us is likely armed and dangerous.

According to some life time residents of Fayette County some of the alcohol bans have nothing to do with the religous we -are-so right-about -everything crowd.

A co-worker informed me that the ban on alcohol went on in Fayette for a long time because of the sheriff we had 1 or 2 sheriffs ago.

Apparently the rumor was that, that particular sheriff was running stills and taking protection money from other people running stills.

Having a liquor store and alcohol sales would have seriously hurt business. I'm not sure what inspires the state wide alcohol ban on sundays, that might be "churchy, church" related.

I didn't grow up here so I can neither confirm or deny.

I'm sure the owners of the Onyxx will overlook just about any color your skin happens to be.

I mean come on, drug dealers, bankers and lawyers don't care.

Besides muddle, maybe you could talk them into a "Blues" night once a week.

Either one is fine with me, I like them both.

I look forward to your review.
