Onyxx

Anyone been to the new Onyxx restaurant?

With the prices that they charge, I predict that they will close the doors within 6 months. There just isn't a demand for that type of resaurant in Fayetteville.

Thanks for the link. It convinced me to give it a try.

Live jazz plus shrimp and grits is a real attraction. (I'll have to see if their shrimp and grits is near as good as my own recipe, which includes artichoke hearts!) Smiling

I'll give a full report after I visit some time this week. Eye-wink

Depending upon the fare that is being offered, the prices might be reasonable. Also, I understand that they are offering live jazz musicians. That interests me if, for no other reason, it means that I can have an adult evening out.

Frankly, I am sick to death of restaurants that have the "open kitchen design." They say it means you can see the cleanliness and freshness of meal preparation in the kitchen. In my experience, it means that you get to yell your dinner conversation over all the clanging, banging noise of the kitchen. Similarly, I am tired of restaurants with loud music. If I wanted to go to a dance club and have my eardrums assaulted, I would not have gone to a restaurant. And if one more waitstaff person treats me like I'm lucky to be paying to dine in their employers' establishment, I will scream. If I'm paying the bill, they can keep the "snooty" to themselves.

I am at "that age" where I don't want a lot of noise and frenetic energy over my meal. I want to relax and enjoy the dying art of conversation with my dining companions. It sounds like Onyxx may have figured that out. I'm going to give it a try and report back.

I am right there with you.

That's why we need a genuine pub in the area--not a "sports bar" with big screen televisions and not your average place with piped in music.

My favorite place in the Atlanta area--for this very reason--is the Brick Store Pub on the square in Decatur. No music. No tvs. Just good pub fare, lots of good brews on tap. And a great place for conversation. And in an historic building with lots of charm.

Wasn't there some type of rip off or scam by the original person developing the place? It sat for over a year before finally opening.

Who put up the money to finish it? What happened to the original person?

Just curious..... okay, nosey! Smiling

Prices without what they are for is useless information because what may be cheap or high for you may not be for someone else.
Are we talking caviar, roast duck with orange sauce, prime rib carved
to your plate, french pastry--freshly baked; or, hamburgers and onion rings?
Also, is there live entertainment? Of what quality: Bruce Springsteen, Rolling stones, or, Joe Slovak and his tamberine?
Are drinks included? Is there a cover charge? Are there groupies, scantily clad?

The prices they charge? Have you been there? If so, what is it like? I don't think I'll be going anytime soon, but I'm curious.
