To PTC Council: ‘Help fix traffic mess on 74N’

A Peachtree City resident has asked the City Council for help with the growing weekday traffic problem for Atlanta-area commuters.

Robert Brown addressed council at its meeting Thursday night, saying he normally leaves at 6 a.m. to avoid the commuter crunch on Ga. Highway 74. But he got stuck in it recently when he had to leave at 6:30 a.m., he found traffic at a standstill starting at Milam Road, just north of Tyrone.

“It took about 10 minutes just to go one mile,” Brown said.

Brown said he wants the city to work with Fairburn, Tyrone, Coweta County and the Georgia Department of Transportation to try and coax some improvements for the area surrounding the Interstate 85 interchange.

Mayor Harold Logsdon told Brown that he has already been working on these issues and he had some information to share with Brown when he was available.

I've been asking for commuter relief for over a year.

Those that live in the "bubble" and commute pay for this place. This city and county have repeatedly refused to address the commuter problem by saying that it doesn't exist.

If I here "It will bring undesirables" one more time...

We would all like to know what Mayor Logsdon has been doing about it.

I find it odd that PTC is listed as a member of the "Clean Air Campaign" yet does nothing to help with the commuting problem in Fayette County.

Mr. Brown, please email me with any information you get from the mayor.
