There were four Fayette area teams in the state playoffs this year and two survived the first round.

Starr's Mill and Landmark Christian both won their first round games, while Whitewater and Sandy Creek were eliminated. The Panthers defeated Ware County 37-6, while the War Eagles edged out Social Circle 56-49. Whitewater was defeated by Brunswick 23-20 and Flowery Branch beat Sandy Creek 45-14.

Starr's Mill (8-3) will play at Baldwin (10-1) on Friday. Baldwin defeated Americus-Sumter 49-7 in the opening round.

Landmark Christian (9-2) will host Warren County (7-4). Warren County beat Bowdon 56-24 on Friday.

Congratulations to Starr’s Mill and Landmark on “getting r’ done”. Good luck on the next round and I hope you guys make it to the Dome.

Congratulations to the seniors at Whitewater High School, you guys should be proud of what you have accomplished in the last four years; you have certainly set the bar for the football program at WHS. I’m very proud of every one of you!

If the Citizen would by a road map they could have sent one of their crack sports reporters down to the "Swamp" to see the Panthers survive.

Starr's Mill 37 Ware County 6 - yea, I would say Starr's Mill "Survived".

Whitewater loses to a third seed at home and your headline is "stunned in the final seconds". Starr's Mill beats the crap out of the region champion Ware County at home in the "Swamp" and your headline is they (two local teams) "Survive".

The AJC said this "Starr's Mill delivered a thunderous knockout blow to Region 3-AAAA champion Ware County, forcing six turnovers on the way to a 37-6 laugher." Yea, they survived allright.

Showing a lot of pride in Starr's Mill there Michael. I'm sure if McIntosh ever gets that far you will do the same for us. Comforting to know.

Good point!
As a WHS parent, believe me, we were stunned. But SM is on a roll and they certainly destroyed Ware last Friday, it was not even close. With everyone back healthy Earwood has the machine running on all fours!
