The Democrat counterrevolution, Cal Thomas 11-10-06Cal's editorial has some truth and fact to it, at least in the first paragraph. Beyond that, let's try to remember the last time this country had a balanced budget. Let's try to remember the last time this country was admired by the rest of the world as a power of good, vs. greed. I'm a military veteran and I have 24 years of federal service. And I have voted for leaders on both sides of the isle. The Bush administration has all but completely destroyed what good every administration before it has been able to achieve. And the media induced mass ignorance gave the administration an additional four years to run America further into the ground. I hope someone will unplug the Fox News network and give the brainwashed in this state a chance to think based on fact. It is important to have a balance of Democrats and Republicans in Congress. However, what is more important is not being blind to the point of voting Democrat or Republican by unbending loyalty or flat out ignorance (i.e.. "I don't vote democrat because they raise taxes to pay for those minorities that don't work.") If that isn't bad enough it's reinforced by the media spin that caters to what they think their audience wants to hear, or what their corporate clients want spun. The result of voting blind will potentially give us another administration that is corrupt, acting above the law, and incapable of representing the will and rightful image of the American people. Speaking of media induced.., The Citizen leans so far to the right, that by itself it often slides off my kitchen table right into the trash. Tim Leonard |
