Four local football teams headed to state playoffs

With their wins on Friday night, Whitewater, Starr's Mill and Sandy Creek clinched a spot in the state playoffs. Whitewater beat Northgate 41-27, Starr's Mill defeated Fayette County 42-14 and Sandy Creek handed Cedartown a 41-13 loss.

Landmark Christian, which had won the region championship the week before, also won on Friday, beating the Our Lady of Mercy Bobcats 55-7.

The playoffs will start Friday with Whitewater hosting Brunswick, Starr's Mill playing at Ware County, Landmark hosting Social Circle and Sandy Creek traveling to face the second seed from region 7-AAA.

As you all go forward and represent Fayette County, I wish you all much success. You will face some tough teams but remember that most teams are NOT in the playoffs and you are.

If all else fails - start chanting "SAT, SAT" ( I'm just kidding - don't you dare!)
