Enough of "The Only Real Cat in Town" .

Starr's Mill alone has 11 state championships in 10 years .... between McIntosh, Fayette County HS, Sandy Creek and Starr's Mill Fayette County is already a powerhouse ... in everything.

Regardless of whether you talk SAT scores, graduation rates, Drop Out Rates, CRCT scores, Band performances, Debate, Mock Trial, Science Olympiad, Football (Starr's Mill has made the state playoffs 8 times in 10 years in 5A, 4A and 3A), Baseball, Soccer, Vollyball, Tennis, Swimming, Track and Cross Country or whatever area you choose Fayette County has been in the top of the state for several years.

Newsweek magazine proclaims Starr's Mill as one of the top high schools in America. Atlanta magazine says it is a top ten. McIntosh leads the county and often the state among SAT scores among public(non-magnet) and only Starr's Mill has ever beaten McIntosh in the county on the SAT.

Until this year, Fayette County schools had been tops in test scores in the state for several years running. Fayette County still leads all other state systems in number of scholarships to Military Academies. Starr's MIll leads all schools nationally in the number of full scholarships to the Military Academies. the AVERAGE student in Fayette County receives the HOPE Scholarship.

Sandy Creek and Fayette, McIntosh and Starr's Mill have a long and distinguished history of excellence. No doubt and no exceptions.

This fact is precisly why the Whitewater arrogance of claiming to be "The Only Real Cat in Town" is offensive. The reality is that Whitewater is the ONLY school in the county with NO championships, no accomplishments, and no history of success. What you do have thus far is a car load of guns, a pattern of arrogance, a failure to report SAT scores and a group of ahtletes from Clayton County who are creating a problem.

We would love to welcome you in to the county family of successful schools but the reality is, you have alienated yourself from all of us - not just the "Cats" (even the Patriots and the Chiefs) and until you learn some humility and show you belong the top with the rest of us your arrogance is simply adding fuel to the perverbial fire.

Please take time to visit the different school's websites for a more detailed history of accomplishments:

As a WHS parent, what attracted me to this county were the schools, first and foremost. I am very proud of the accomplishments of all the schools in the county in regards to academics, athletics and community service. They are all to be commended! Many schools systems would like to be in our position.

I don’t’ understand your hatred towards WHS, you seem to be the only one beating this drum; somehow or another you have been affected by this. The majority of WHS parents do not claim to be “the only cat in town”. In fact, many of us have had the same lasting friendships throughout the years with folks in other schools although our kids are spread out through the different schools of the county. To paint all of us with the same brush because of the comments of two or three, you can’t possibly know all the parents at WHS! WHS has been around for only four years, we have accomplished much with our first senior class and those that are to follow, but we have a long way to go, most of us know that. I understand are SAT scores were very good, like you, I don’t understand why they are not posted anywhere.

Your posts are for the most parts very well written and informative, (entertaining at times!) and I know there are many issues that are more important in this county we can try to address. Take care mainframe!

if you think the majority of your parents don't claim to be “the only cat in town”. I believe its actually painted in your Gymansium!

Of course it starts with the Administration at the school, Stillons has always walked around with an air of arrogance about him looking down his nose at anybody from any other school in the county. Then there's Vena, what a fine example of sportsmanship, NOT! Ever since he was a coach at Whitewater Middle its been win at all cost, and it was reflected in the attitude of his athletes.

I agree with Mainframe...Win something ..then you can talk!

There is much to be proud of for all of us....it would be nice to add sportsmanship and mutual respect to the list!

My kid is big, and athletic, but his father couldn't be bothered, but was a pro...I saw what it can do to kids to be on a team where the coach had a kid on the team and made them star, I saw what being a kid from a 1 parent household does to them. Where I use to live, I was blessed with finding a wonderfull church where the co's put making all children feel better about themselves,WWHS imports their talent...at the expense of the kids that live there...it is no good. So far, I know from the papers, Jordan's kid goes there, Decotis..etc... All I have to say to you old guys is..if you want it to win...go out there n do it yourself..it not ...give your own kids a chance..if they loose, they had the chance...if not...Daddy didn't cover it up...to make "him" better...What is wrong with you...give your ...OWN...kids the chance to fail...or win? You don't have to import talent! You are making your kids feel like they don't matter...you are wrong!!

The coaches and parents are worse than the kids. Their arrogance is well noted throughout the county.

If they lose Friday night, the football team won't even be in the top four in region and will fail to make the playoffs! Wow - 45 unhappy seniors if that happens! Even if they win Friday they will fail to win region.

Not a GREAT start for a team full of move-ins and seniors.

Although the student athletes were rude in their loss to us, the parents were worse! Learn some humility! That would be the OldSchool way.
