PTC IS HERE TO STAY

Hey Folks, Peachtree City isn't just a little upstart city with grand notions. We are here to stay. Our residents account for 32% of the county-wide population and pay more than 70% of the taxes which are redistributed to the cities. In addition, we pay 66% of our taxes to the FCBOE. All of our residents are abundantly clear that we do not have PTC schools. We have always supported the county school system and always will. What we are saying is that the constant school moves are not okay for our children. They are not okay for any child. We need to work together to find long-term solutions that are good for all the children in Fayette County.

Do something? Who? What?

OK, how about this?
* Have developers share information about where the population growth is going to occur ahead of time.
*Share that information 5 to 6 years ahead of time with the Board of Education and the school system.
*Donate land to the schools system so they can build schools in the area where growth is likely to occur.
* Provide all this information to prospective homeowners so they can make an informed decision about where to live.
* Invite the press to those informational meetings so they can publicize the areas of future growth.

Sound like a good idea?

Well, it has all been done for over 30 years in Peachtree City and to a lesser extent in Fayette County, but it is still better than everywhere else. Get over it folks, if you pay attention you can see what is coming, If you are too wrapped up in Ameican Idol or Dancing with the S**** so that it prevents you from going to school board and city council meetings - shame on you.

Oh, and shame on Tyrone. They didn't know they were going to grow. And shame on the school board for overbuilding on Jenkins Road.

Hey TC, unlike the Spear road guy, I like the collective "we" as opposed to the the elected FCBOE types that your other commenter proposes. 'We the People' not 'We the elected' are what makes our community go round, regardless of what other guy thinks. "WE" will be here after "WE" vote the other guys out of office. I like your comments about how "WE" should work out the problems.

Hey tc, there were a lot of "we" in your blog. It sounds like you have authority to speak on behalf of population. I think you have to run for the FCBOE to have that kind of authority.
