Steve Brown (49-18)

Fayette County (1-6) vs. Banneker (1-6)
The road has been full of potholes for Fayette County this season. Banneker gave Whitewater all kinds of problems. This game comes down to who has the most grit, and it’s FAYETTE COUNTY!

Landmark Christian (5-2) @ Mt. Pisgah (2-5)
Their stock is soaring ... roll LANDMARK CHRISTIAN roll!

McIntosh (0-7) @ Northgate (4-3)
McIntosh will run into the NORTHGATE roadblock this week. Tough going for the Chiefs this year – keep your heads up.

OLM (1-6) vs. Whitefield Academy (0-7)
Will the Wolfpack of Whitefield Academy pick up its first victory? Will Our Lady of Mercy meet the challenge and rally for their second win of the season? I wish I knew the answer. Region A football is right up there with string physics and the like. Flip the coin and it’s WHITEFIELD ACADEMY.

Sandy Creek (4-3) vs. Haralson County (2-5)
I certainly did not anticipate Sandy Creek’s lopsided loss to Carrollton last week. I am hoping they get their game back together and out-muscle Haralson County. I am sticking with SANDY CREEK.

Starr's Mill (4-3) @ Woodward Academy (6-2)
Here is the game to watch in Fayette County this week! The War Eagles of Woodward Academy have suffered some tough routs at the hands of Westlake and Creekside. Starr’s Mill is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Whitewater. Starr’s Mill has what it takes to beat Woodward Academy, but can they do it? Starr’s Mill cannot, and will not, tolerate their losing sub-region record (2-3). STARR’S MILL is going to fight! STARR’S MILL is going to win!

Georgia Tech vs. Miami
Clemson who? So the offense dried-up last week - the Yellow Jackets are facing the weakest Miami team that I can recall. Let’s face it; Miami was almost upset by Duke (0-6 going into that game). Tech has to get Calvin Johnson back in the game, and stop missing field goals. Refuse to choke GEORGIA TECH and cruise to victory!

UGA vs. Florida
When you are Georgia and you are working your buns off trying to defeat a 2-5 team last week, your chances do not look so good against FLORIDA. Note to UGA Coaching Staff: Recruit wide receivers.

Falcons @ Bengals
Cincinnati is for real. Atlanta is still trying to decide if Michael Vick is supposed to run or pass. The Falcons defensive line is hurt. I am taking the more balanced attack of the BENGALS.

Staff member's picks:

John Thompson (46-21) - Fayette County, Landmark, Northgate, OLM, Sandy Creek, Woodward, Tech, Florida, Falcons

Munford (45-22) - Fayette County, Landmark, Northgate, OLM, Sandy Creek, Starr's Mill, Tech, Florida, Falcons

Mike Boylan (48-19) - Fayette County, Landmark, Northgate, Whitefeld, Sandy Creek, Starr's Mill, Miami, Florida, Falcons

Magic 8 Ball (36-31) - Fayette County, Landmark, McIntosh, OLM, Sandy Creek, Starr's Mill, Tech, UGA, Bengals

OK I'll admit I was wrong about the Starr's Mill game. But it was a fantastic game! I think the big upset this week could be Banneker over Fayette County.

I'm not sure about the Falcons game. The Bengals are pretty good this season. How can Boylan take Miami? All Tech has to do is show up.

The Fayette County football program has been "full of potholes" for the past several seasons. Is it time for a change in the leadership and administration of the football program? A lot of talent is going to waste. McIntosh student Sam Hale said it best in today's Letter to the Editor. "Winning is what players want. We are tired of losing and everyone telling us that it is alright; it's not alright. Losing is losing and I along with the rest of the team am tired of losing" That sentiment is shared by the FCHS football family. Any suggestions out there?

The pundits have said Georgia would lose to Florida before. Magic 8 Ball is the only one smart enough to figure it all out.

I felt like if I didn't go with my heart on this one, the Dawgs might pull it out.

I'm just so close to the overall lead though - I can taste it - so I have to go with my head.
