Logsdon Report: Another Lie From Mayor Logsdon

Mayor Harold Logsdon’s lies continue. On September 12, the mayor said that a decision on TDK had to be made that evening because the sale of the Pathway property was definitely closing on Friday, September 15. Logsdon told the city council that there was no more time remaining to examine the TDK situation.

TDK a 'done deal' by Friday?

PTC Council declines to vote on road fate

"The Peachtree City Council declined again Tuesday night to vote on whether or not to extend TDK Boulevard into Coweta County despite projections that a development proposed for Coweta County will add 22,000 car trips a day to Ga. Highway 74."

"But if a real estate closing happens as planned Friday, there will be no further chance for the city to halt the project because of a key element to the deal, city officials said."

"Time is of the essence for the closing on the right-of-way as a $2 million aviation grant to purchase land for the runway safety area at Falcon Field expires Oct. 1. Without that grant there are no additional funds set aside for the necessary right of way acquisition, meaning without those funds the project would stall again."

Note: Both deadlines have expired and the City Council has still refused to take action to halt the project or allow for further public discussion.

Ex-Mayor Brown: Where are all the supporters of TDK Extension today?

"Mayor Logsdon stated, at a special called Sept. 12 meeting, that the Pathway property sale he helped negotiate had to close on that Friday, Sept. 15. The public was told that because of the tight deadline, the city would not be able to gather the information needed and that it was impossible to make an informed decision, so they declined to vote at all.

Even though two representatives from Pathway/Peachtree City Brokers were present at the Sept. 12 meeting, it was the mayor who spoke on behalf of the landowner’s position regarding the land sale.

The mayor has refused to back away from such negotiations even though he received a maximum campaign contribution from the landowner. None of his statements regarding the urgency of the closing and the deadline of Sept. 15 proved to be true.

What the mayor avoided telling anyone was that the closing of the Pathway property for the airport’s runway safety zone had no bearing at all on building TDK. Now, a full month later, the property sale still has not closed, furthering a string of misleading statements used to deceive the public into thinking nothing can be done.

In fact, the Oct. 1 closing deadline imposed by the FAA was nothing but a ruse to con the public into a sense of urgency to avoid public discussion. Not only is the Oct. 1 FAA deadline a lie, but the previously approved Pathway land sale contract is being changed to further benefit the landowner."

I amazed that Mudcat and Robert L. Morgan haven't blamed the bogus deadlines on Steve Brown yet.

It appears the whole city council is in on this charade. The mayor can't control things if the rest of the council holds him accountable.
